My arrows a little low on the passenger side.. it's those two little round stand offs. Depending on what model Prado and gearbox combo you have, yow will either have 1-2 or 3 switches (1 on drivers up to 2 on passenger side). If not in use the holes will have blanks or plugs.

There is NO low range light on any model of Prado with a manual trans......

Mick, of course I agree and would go so far as to say there is no low range light on any model of Prado period, no matter what the gearbox type. Thanks for the diagram, probably why I couldn't see the one on the drivers side from my angle, they're very high. If anyone has the dexterity to be able to reach this stuff you have free board and lodgings at my place!

LenGXV6, mate maybe you could explain more about which light you are expecting to see... an out-right low range light (L+LL) or just the diff lock lamp as per LL (which also applies to HL). Maybe I'm the only one but I read you are expecting to see a light that says you are simply in Low Range (locked or not) as opposed to a light that tells you whether your centre diff is locked or not. Two quite different things.

A diagram would be good Mick, I found one on the drivers side, but for the life of me, I can not find the one on the passengers side.

As I have a GX, my guess would be that all it really does is turn the light on and off, I have no traction aids what so ever, not even LSD. If thats the case, I may hold off until the next service before I get it fixed.

I have no traction aids what so ever, not even LSD

Really :?: I thought the GX had a LSD too... Not that Toyota LSD's are any good, your not missing much :roll:

OK, Sorry my mistake, I should have said Center Diff Lock Light, not low range, Please forgive me, pretty please.............

I have an 03 model GX, does not come with LSD rear diff. Basicly think of mine as what the current standard model is, just with a v6 engine.
The current model GX does have a lsd rear diff.

Thanks MickL for the diagram, now I know where I should be looking, and yes I only have one sensor. However I can see the bolt holes for the other two sensors fitted to the passengers side.

For the MODS, Believe the diagram and an associated write up on the sensors should be added as a sticky post.

Well there you go... I didn't know that, I thought it was a standard item on all models without traction control.

So have you solved why the light isn't coming on? Is it the switch/plug or some other fault?

had a look yesterday, and it looks like I have broken the outer case on the sensor. When I get a chance, I will get a photo of it and post it.

I was told we did not have one when we brought the prado, is there any way to check ie markings on the case?

Yep, there's a little red sticker that says "LSD Oil Only" it's on the rear near the fill plug.

or alternatively.... you can jack the rear up so both wheels are free to rotate. Spin one wheel, if the opposite one spins in the same direction then there's an LSD fitted. If it spins in the opposite direction the diff is open.

len if ya cant find a sticker, just jack the back end up so both wheels r off the ground, spin on wheel and if the other wheel turns the same way its an lsd, every prado 120 comes std with on if it hasnt got traction control i think, mines a gx and i got an lsd

Have not had a chance yet to get under the car, hopefully this weekend. Also need to take a photo of the sensor to post.

OH well, wife working all long weekend, plenty of time to do it!!
