Re: Message for ARB Battery Tray Owners

I've also got the rear passenger side ARB aux battery tray and mine also has the brace described above. Hasn't moved a millimeter since it went in. Mine was installed by ARB. Although ARB can be expensive, I have not been able to fault their gear to date. Minor issues at most, but nothing drastic. I also have the Outback Accessories tray on the front drivers side as supplied by ARB and with their advice I installed it without issue, holds an ARB air compressor at the moment though and not a battery.

Just giving them my vote also.

Well I'm thankful I read this post and checked my battery tray - the bracket was missing. A big thumbs up to ARB in Perth though who are bending over backwards to fix a poor fitting by my local ARB reseller in Brisbane. In fact some of the best service I have ever received!

Dropped into ARB Coopers Plains this arvo to pick up a battery tray. Was advised that they no longer supply one that mounts on the driver's side, due to welds cracking. They now only supply a tray for the passenger side.

ARB never made a driver's side tray

Well, I'm not sure if ARB "made" my driver's side battery tray but they certainly fitted it & had no qualms about it either (fitted in November 2009). They stated they have had no issues with driver's side installations and from their perspective, most inner guard / tray cracking issues reported in the industry are largely due to either poor fitting / inferior trays or ridiculously extreme vehicle useage.

It's either battery out every service or if your hands are small enough; remove the battery clamp and tilt the battery forward and you might be able to get to it.

I didnt know you needed to touch the dust valve so wandered out and checked. Squeezed it and there was a heap in there.

What a poor design. The valve should be open when the engine is off so the dust can fall out and then close under vaccuum when it runs.

                    How strange.

It is designed to self clean to a certain degree. I often have a little pile of dust under mine. But it can get blocked with larger bits, which can hold dust in there. With a 1/2 a turn the whole assembly comes off. I usually give mine a rinse out every now and then.

There are 2 ARB stores in Perth. One in Osborne Park and one in Canning Vale.

What size and amperage battery is this?
