Hi PP'ers,
I'm hoping to find a solution for a problem from all you electronics tech guys.
I have a media player (Dvico R-2230) which has a 5V 1.5A power requirement. I run it off the cigarette lighter plug (using the appropriate 12V to 5V power adaptor). During our long drives, there comes a time for a toilet stop or fuel stop but the kids are still enjoying the movie. During these stops, I don't feel the urge to keep the engine running and waste fuel. So I switch it to accessory power and the media player keeps on going.
When I restart the engine, the media player powers down and we lose the movie. You then wait for the media player to reboot, then navigate to the movie, and then fast forward to the point it was at.
I thought about hooking up 4 NiMH batteries and a switch to the input but I'm not sure if the action of switching across will be quick enough to maintain power.
Instead, I think I need to have a capacitor somewhere in the circuit. Can someone help me out with the circuit design?
(I don't have dual batteries)
