Re: iPod connection for 6 stacker

Exactly what I'm looking for! Does the connection support the non-bluetooth version of the integrated 6-stacker? I have a November 2006 build GXL.

Re: iPod connection for 6 stacker

just an update about the stacker/ipod conection in the grande .i had to have my stereo unit pulled out and decoded by toyota ,while it was out i told the tech i wanted to have a look at the back of the unit to look for an ipod conection . he showed me on the back of the unit there is a blue socket that it just plugs into ,he had a cable without any black boxes on it but it had a small black plastic strip about 2inch long on one of the wires . that pluged directly into a genuine toyota aux socket that will fit in the dash in the spare spots next to your 12 volt socket . ipod plugs in there no protruding wires or boxes . only problem was he could not get me the cable .should have asked more questions . took pics of the cable

Ended up purchasing this Ipod integration kit and must admit that I'm impressed with the way it works. Sound output is perfect and I like the way that it continues playing a track when the car is turned on.

          Hi kav,

I'm interested with the cable Toyota is talking about. Can you post the pic?
I rang Toyota and they looked high and low and could not find any reference to this cable.

Before i start, is there definitely no chance i can get to the rear of the head unit from under the dash or from the glove box (if i pull that out?). It wouldn't be the first time i'd fumbled around in the dark not knowing what i'm doing...
            Pete
            no you can't.
it's an easy job to remove and refit stereo.
just remove the silver/woodgrain panels from either side of gear selector.
put your finger down the bottom of either trims above the last removed trims and pull out, then pry the tops of them.
remove the 4x 10mm socket headed bolts and the 5th that is surrounded by plastic (the wiring loom).
remove stereo/heater control panel as one.
            done.
now just refit in a reverse order. takes about 30mins to get in and out.
as travelman said. it's just the starting that is the hardest.

by the way, has this device been used for iPhone? and does it charge them?

Yes, very easy to install. I'm no mechanic yet had no troubles installing the ipod connection, air compressor and new UHF antenna with no problems.

The cable charges my ipod classic, haven't tried an iPhone (yet) - will try soon as one of my sister in laws come over.

Do they still manufacture these CariPodCables?
It appears as the eBay store and the web site no longer exist.
Any alternative solutions would be greatly appreciated?
                  Cheers
