Welcome BigF. Your first duty as part of this family is to blast the living daylights out of an "anti-Pradoist" who believes they are Godlike on the road. It is now your sacred duty to restore order to the road. If that means ear drum damage then so be it. For some, that's what it takes.

Hi all
I fitted the Stebel Nautilus air horn/s today. I got the black colour (they come in red, black or chrome). I also got the forward facing one in an attempt to make it louder out front. I will put a small piece of foam in one of the grill squares to keep bugs out of it.
As it weighs 600 grams, I considered that the single mounting point was a bit light on for corrugated roads so I mounted it top and bottom as can be seen in the photos. I usually like to install things so that it looks as if it came from the factory that way but ... Oh well!
The cost was a very reasonable $46.50 via Ebay and I picked it up the following day from Banyo here on the northside of Brisbane.
Note that the relay hasn't been fitted and wired in these photos.

That's a good price Nomad. I'm sure I was up around the $70.00 mark from the Ebay seller I used. Pays to wait for a good price it seems.
I had the same thoughts when I mounted mine about it wobbling around too much and actually thought about doing what you did also. I could really see them getting up quite a wobble on corrugations as you obviously did too. Even with the heavier metal I used to mount it, I think it'd still wobble around a little bit in rougher conditions. Was thinking about some sort of tough metal strapping to support it from the bottom.# 2007 D4D GX # Full Privacy Tint # Flinders Red # 2 x HID LightForce 240 Blitz # ARB Winch Bar # Alloy Rims # Hilux Washer Jets # Stebel Nautilus Compact Truck Horn # ARB Alloy Roof Rack # ARB Dual Battery System # Charcoal Rough Country Canvas Seat Covers # Suspension:Autocraft Bilstein Shocks/Struts & Ridepro Coils # L.E.D Side Marker Lights # ARB Onboard Air # Pirelli Scorpion LT ATR 265/70's #--Custom 3"exhaust---

Re: Bought some air horns today
I've started my installation of a Stebel Truck Horn. Not at all happy with the standard horns.
Slight variation to other installers and pictures attached showing how I"m doing it.
It's been good to have the background information from others. Wiring will be so easy now.
I decided to make use of existing holes to the right of the radiator and to have both the original horns and the Stebel horn.
Chosen holes are the radiator top bolt hole and existing bolt (removed in picture) and a hole directly below it (using 8 mm high tensile bolt & nut).
Created a bracket from some stainless steel sheet. Dimensions included to assist.
Bolted it all in place. (Hint: Make sure you position it low enough to clear the plastic on the inside of the bonnet when closed)
The wiring is next but heres the start using a simple piggy back type connector.
More to come.
Adrian.

Re: Bought some air horns today
Just installed mine this arvo. Same install as Ades as it was the easiest as far as knocking up a bracket is concerned. I just bought a piece of galv (some kind of building bit) & cut it up & belted it into shape. Very solidly mounted.
Man these things are loud!

The horn has stopped working. If I put the horn directly onto the battery it's fine. I have checked the fuses and all is good. I even bought a new relay as well and still no luck. I have power on the switch wire and power from the battery. But nothing coming out of the business end. If I have multi-meter -ve on the battery and the +ve on the output wire, nothing...... BUT if I then place the +ve onto the ground on the body and press the horn I get power... Whats happening...... helpRegards,

Re: Bought some air horns today
Coulda done with one of these mods yesterday. Pulling into the local shops on the entry drag and this clown starts pulling out in reverse. Apparently jacked up white Prado's with big alloy roo bars are hard to see?
Anyway, onto the horn and I thought....gee thats sounds as meaty as a festiva
Time to look for one of these air babies
