      Re: Starting Battery Life?

I had my starting battery in the Jackaroo die after 4 years, the corrugations driving around the top of oz done a good job of it, it had a slight bend in it. I then paralleled two identical batteries. The Liberty battery showed sign of struggling after 4 years so it good the boot last year. It seems that 4 years is pretty good.

When I put the fridge in the Liberty I also put in a few 1.25 ltr bottles of water that I have in the freezer. When driving I ran the fridge colder and then overnight etc I back it off a bit and the thermal mass of the ice helps keep the running of fridge to minimum. Just put the ice/bottles on the bottom and the more temp sensitive stuff on top.
Just to threw another curve ball, that is why paralleling the two identical batteries worked well in the Jackaroo. The batteries have been in there for over 5 years, are always hooked together, always start the car together and staying over a weekend was never a problem and they recharge quickly. If I was to go on a big trip with it now I would just replace both, paralleling makes for a cheap effective and reliable dual battery system. But it does pay to pick up a multi meter and check where their state of charge is at occasionally and to start of with two identical new quality batteries.
stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. Sidewinder`s Dual Battery isolator and rear power outlet kit. Pirana Battery tray, Hayman Reese towbar with Toyota wiring kit and Brains`s guard.
