  • Battery Replacement with IBS Dual Battery System

My starting battery in my 2005 Prado V6 is starting to lose charge a little fast. It is 9 years old and winter approaches. Repco have a good deal going so I want to grab a new one and I am wondering if I can use the Aux AGM battery to keep power to the vehicle while I fit the new battery or if this is even necessary in a 2005 year model? Can I just disconnect the existing battery and pop in the new one without losing any vehicle settings? If not, will the IBS system just take power from the Aux or should I use the "Link" button? Again if not the Aux battery for system backup, can or should I use a spare cranking battery I have in the garage?

    Any help appreciated!

    Regards Bernie

Well some research later I can report that I can replace the battery at leasure with no backup. Power windows will need to be up and downed then held up for 2 seconds on each door seperately and possibly the radio re-tuned and the clock reset. (big deal) and that is all. Some advantages in older vehicles. BTW, my Prado still runs like a Swiss Watch and is a young 19 years old!
