electric windows stop working
hi
2009 gxl bought new and have 200000ks on the clock
has started with the rear windows not responding from the drivers controls then the passengers window but all work at their own switch
after using the windows a few times the switches work again ,but if not used for a while they stop from drivers controls.
any one else had this
cheers

This sounds a bit like what happens when the battery is disconnected... you need to power cycle each window so it knows top from bottom before the drivers switches will work... I wonder if your battery is on its last legs and you drop power, say on starting .. or dirty battery conections?
Just one thought.Steve

I have a similar issue with the passenger front window in mine. when you wind it up, as soon as it hits the top it then goes back down to half way open? It does this regardless of which button is used. The only way to get to close fully is to bring up until it's almost closed then move it up a couple of mil at a time by just moving the button until shut, but if you go too far it goes back down again.
I just tried the power cycling but it made no difference :-(
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Mark
Just realised I posted this in 120 forum instead of 150. I'll re post and this can be deleted if need be :-)Last edited by Westcoast Mark; 25-11-2015, 01:54 PM.

hi Mark
The window retracting down when you close it could be the auto reverse detection , which happens when something is caught in the window when closing ...ie an arm or child's head , they are designed to retract with a resistance..
If you have a wind deflector on your window it will be hitting the clamps which hold the deflector on , this happens on both my passenger and drivers windows, it also happens when the windows are dry , if you know what I mean ( resistance on the rubbers as it closes )
This is my experience I have , possibly you could be having the same ..
Hope this is of help ... vic

Took out main battery to rejoin left blinker wire buried in front of the battery. (Scotchlocks and thin modern car wire syndrome). Windows didn't work afterwards, so operated passenger windows from arm rests, cured them as above, and to fix drivers from flashing, did the "2 second up hold the button up fix" as above and hey presto it fixed flashing light in drivers window switch and drivers window up down fault. Inside drivers switch panel it is a complex electrical circuit board with touch pads and the little green doides. I had cleaned the touch pads and their contactors with Isopropyl Alcohol, but the only fix that worked was the "2 second up hold the button up fix". Good work Justo. You can't help good equipment.
