Serious problem in Europe

    Hi all

    I've also posted this link in a couple of other 120 Threads, I have a brand new, purchased Apr11 GXL150, and am starting to worry after reading all the threads I have over the last couple of weeks regarding fuel system problems. I had a 1HZ 80 Series which had done 493k kms before I sold it prior to purchasing the Prado without one problem with the fuel system, even after cracking a head after trying to limp home 11kms with a badly haemoraging water pump, after which it did another 90k kms prior to sale.

    I know it was not a CRD Engine and I don't know what type of engine that Mercedes Benz use in this Actros Truck if it is CRD or not, but if they can run Kerosene in the damn thing why are people having so much trouble. I hardly think a Military Vehicle used in Combat Zones would be contemplated if it was going to experience similar problems. Just some "food for thought", read it & let us know your thoughts.

    If MB can accomodate such a wide range of fuels, why can't the rest of the manufacturers????????????

      Any update on the these issues? Can it be reasonably expected that design changes have been made and a 2014 model are less likely to suffer a similar fate?

        I cannot confirm it but there is a suggestion that since 2013 the D4D injectors in the 150s have been fully DLC coated which should increase the life of the injector. Different seats have been used for quite some time as well so the blowby/oil sump pick up blocking issue may be put to bed. Either way injectors are consumables but you want some warning that they need changing and not just a failure that costs many $.
