  • How do you rate the D4D ?????

    Good, Bad, etc ??

Scott best way to find out is buy one, unfortunately the waiting list is getting longer (only joking)

With my best fuel figures of 8.5 lts per 100k's, which is better than what Toyota suggests.
The pulling power is awesome when towing.
As for highway speeds & passing you would not know it is a diesel. All of this from a 2 ton vehicle.
I really can't find anything to complain about. (yet)
    In other words "EXCELLENT"

My "now" 2nd vehicle is a 5 litre Commodore V8 although it has heaps of power it does not tow anywhere near as good as the Prado & uses far to much fuel.

As the add goes "Oh what a feeling"

I am now waiting for my promotions kickback from Toyota

Fuel efficient, great torque, smooth, quiet - I love it.
      Yep excellent sums it up.

nice, my prado does between 11 and 13 depending on how heavy the right foot is. i've now got thoughts going through my head on how many k's i'd have to do a year to justify the increased lease costs of upgrading!

Last weekend we drove from Cranbourne (SE suburbs of Melbourne) to Portland (about 900Kms return). Had cruise control on most of the time. Some driving around Portland - including a very wet track .

Got 8.4L/100Kms. Very very happy with that. Particularly seeing my old GU duel-fuel Patrol would have got about 27L/100Km on gas.

Around town seem to be getting 9.6L/100Kms.

Mine is absobloodylutely fantastic, although I am a bit peeved that others are getting down into the mid 8's. Doesn't seem to matter how I drive mine I am averaging around the 10L/100km mark. In for 20K service next week and they are going to run some diagnostics on it to try and find out why consumption is up.

I am really liking most of the posts here about the great consumption figures most of you are getting. I decided when looking for a new company vehicle that it was going to be a turbo diesel.

I actually did not even think about a Prado until very late into the whole test driving game, boy I am sure glad I happen to say to the salesman that I would not mind taking the Prado for a drive while I am here. It was a petrol version but I immediately liked the feel of it.

I need the economy and range of the D4D Prado to get me past the ripoff roadhouses along the Stuart HWY. It does not matter what fuel you use these roadhouses are the biggest ripoff merchants around.

I reckon with the range that the Prado D4D will give me I should be able to reach Broken Hill on one tank from Alice Springs. However I will probably fill up in Port Augusta as it is relatively cheap there and that should get me all the way to Newcastle.

Roll on November so I can take delivery of my new VX.

I will do that Jacto, I see there are quite a few members in the Hunter region. I know the Hunter quite well I grew up in Nelson Bay and know the waterways like the back of my hand. I am old enough to remember seeing the Sygna get washed on to Stockton Beach, that was one hell of a storm. The one a few weeks ago was in the same league as the one which caused the Sygna's its fate.

I once spent 2 weeks camped in the Barringtons and it literally bucketed down the entire time we were there, most miserable time I have ever had. It was fun trying to get the vehicles out at the end of the two weeks the mud was pretty deep, leeches everywhere. We spent the 2 weeks sitting around the fire under a huge tarp just drinking port, wasn't a pretty site when we packed up I can tell you.

I am picking the VX up in Adelaide then driving it back to Alice to register it then about a week later I will be driving down to Port Stephens. It normally takes me about 2 days to get there from here, I overnight at Broken Hill at the Outback Villas on the way there and on the way back I overnight at Port Augusta at the Standpipe motor inn. They have a beaut Indian restaurant there which is the only reason we stay there.
