Appreciate your input, I spoke to the Exedy guys at the 4x4 show recently and was suprised to hear that they only had the OEM type replacement kit for the Prado D4D, no HeavyDuty option or Safari Tuff kit was available, although they did say that a dealer here in Brisbane could modify the clutch into a HD Clutch. Interestingly the older 1KZTE engine for the Prado120 has all clutch kits available, and much the same for the D4D Hilux.
A short while back was quoted by Toyota Dealership up here, $2200 for a genuine fitted/replacement clutch kit.....Ouch.

      cheers

Bloody hell thats dear!, Got mine fitted for $400 inc machining flywheel (at toyota dealer), clutch was around $800 for memory (didn't have to pay for it) and they told me there was only about $70 difference between excedy and genuine so i was happy to go excedy. So even $1200-$1500 max should pull it up i reckon.
        Cheers.

Would have to agree on those prices, they just weren't interested was the impression I got.
Not only that when I asked about a sourcing an alternative kit (non genuine) and having them fit it, I was told that they wouldn't fit alternative parts, only genuine.

          cheers,
          Stewy

Bloody dealers!, you either get a good helpful one or a bad one. The dealer i bought it from told me excedy have a lighter pedal feel but fit either both are fine he said. Same with the dealer that fitted it, had no problem fitting it at all and are very helpful, BUT our local dealer here i woudn't take my wheelbarrow too, bought a hilux there (new) had problems, Not interested in helping at all.
            Cheers.

guys, for those of you who have replaced clutches and cleaned up input snout yourselves. i noticed when doing mine just now there is an anti rattle type spring on the pivot for the clutch fork. has anyone noticed this spring as broken (mine is, allowing clutch fork to cock sideways).

              cheers Batto.

I think the clutch master cylinder has gone as clutch pedal intermittently sticking down making gear changes very hard – “fix” by lifting pedal manually, but occurs some days/weeks later.

On Friday, my clutch pedal linkages fell apart and the pushrod disengaged from pedal and the spacer washers dropped to floor, no clutch!

Managed to get it back together and limp to Mr. Toyota, who will have a look at it on Monday – more D4D dollars!
                Cheers,

                Tony
