1st fill was at Geraldton got 12.59l/100k (Sitting on 118kph into a head wind)
2nd at Karratha 11.99l/100k same wind all the way to Exmouth and return.
Next one just a top up after some spirited beach diving 12.36l/100k.

Keen to see what it does without the head wind, in the Yaris the head wind was always worth an extra 2l/100k if that the case then Ill be pretty happy.

I can't believe the economy of this vehicle. Have had my D4D 10 days and done 2000km, mostly highway. First check was a trip to Newcastle and back: 9.1L/100km. Then trip to Gold Coast: 8.5L/100km, return trip 8.9L/100km. I realise this is only rough average but have ensured the tank is chockers at each refill. What is going to happen when the motor is run in? Also, I have never owned a vehicle with cruise control before, ain't that a bag of goodies on an expressway, just set at a tad over 110kph and watch it do the work. Had me beat how cruise control could work on a 6 speed manual. I thought it would have to be limited to automatics. No doubt I will find a hill somewhere that it can't handle in 6th, but at this point it eats it and I am certainly listening to ensure no labouring. I thought I'd had my say by now, but the car keeps getting 'betterer & betterer'. It will be interesting to see any improvement when I get the snorkel fitted. It's incredible though, some people can't resist a dig when they find out I have just brought a new Prado. Why get such a fuel guzzler etc. They understandably can't grasp what economical fuel consumption we get with such performance.

                Hi All,

I have returned from my first trip to Batemans Bay from Melbourne via the Princes Hwy.

                I did 2624kms and used 254.28L.

According to my numbers that should be 9.69L / 100kms or 10.32Kms / Litre.

I do sit on 95kms to get the fuel economy where possible.

Spot on with those figures, according to my spreadsheet.

It works out to be 29.14 mpg

Pretty good results, and I bet your happy with them.

I checked my D4D the other day and am now getting 9.6l/100km with 17000km on the clock.
When i first got it i could get around 10.7l/100km but have had new fuel pump and tune since due to bad diesel so maybe this has helped.
By the way, I am not easy on the car, around 130km/hr freeway speed normally and lots of windy country roads at good speeds as well.

Took the scangauge out of the petrol 120 into the D4D. Has not been callibrated - just reset to record a diesel motor. Getting highway figures of 7.5l/h on stretches of Bruce Hway where the petrol guzzled 12.5l/h @ 100kph in cruise control. This is amazing stuff for a brand new motor. Callibration may get them little closer - but it may go the other way!

                            Hi

I just had my first fill today (diesel) since picking the new car up from the dealer with a full tank. Travelled 1437 km and used 144 litres to fill - close enough to 10lt per 100km. This is a combination of highway driving (70%) and aorund town (30%).

This is virtually identical economy to my prevoius car (Fairmont Ghia 6sp Auto).

I expect that this will improve once the motor has covered some more km - can anyone advise if they have seen much improvement once run in etc, Thanks

                              fuel consuption

                              Hi All,

Just got back from Trip from Melb to Alice/Kings Canyon/Ayres Rock etc via the Oodnadatta Track did 5,864.7 klm using 639ltrs of Diesel overall cost =$1303.82 1st fill $1.80 ltr Melb, dearest fill $2.50ltr Curtin Springs, last fill $1.86ltr Melb.
Have ARB Deluxe bar, OME Susp, Dual Batts, Tow bar,Cooper ST,s, loaded with all camping gear for 2 week trip, Waeco 50ltr Fridge & 2 people.
I was pretty happy with fuel usage as my friend travelling in his 2.8 Nissan Patrol Diesel was using $50-$80 more each fill.
