Filled up the other day - at a generally good price of $1.36 p/l (still as why its 30cpl higher than petrol ?)
Consumption was purely based on metro running - daily drag to and from work about 70 kms return anywhere between 20kmph to 100 kmph (Gt Eastern hwy Mundaring to Burswood)
1512kms / 164 litres
To me that calculates at 9l/100 kms
(31 mpg ?)
Just fitted up the Rola Commercial series bars (front & rear) so will keep eye on the economy with them fitted
Not sure if I should smile or cry to be honest would love to get 1600 out of both tanks.
Others thoughts welcome
Enjoy the xmas break guys, some of us have to work through it
Cheers
Dean
2008 GX turbo diesel auto 5sp Fitted: snorkel dual battery kit kaymar twin wheel carrier Evenutally fitted: Bullbar VHF & UHF radios, storage system Still to come: winning lotto number to pay the blessed thing off set of decent side steps/rock sliders
Too many projects so little time and even less money
Push come to shove I could BUT its risky to go beyond the low fuel warning icon.
Fuel starvation & aeration could result by trying to run it further.
I recall years ago (primary school age  ) a school bus went down a steepish hill with an almost empty tank, on the return trip (think it was to a picnic ground) driver started going up the hill fuel starvation occurred due to the fuel running back towards the rear.
After a bit of thinking the driver ended up having to reverse it back down and then reverse all the way back up to keep a constant fuel supply to the pump.
Just have to see who things go with the commercial racks fitted up, already noticed the whistling above 80 kmph

I have finally sat down and run all my fuel useage out on a spreadsheet.
I got the Prado in October 07 and only tow a trailer when I'm out cutting firewood but thats all in 4x4 off road.
Car has roof bars on all the time.
Consumption has ranged between a low of 8.2 and a high of 11.5 litres per hundred kilometres (car full, towing and airconditioner on but highway driving).
I've done over 50,000km and have averaged 9.8 lts/100 kms
I'm extremely happy with this consumption.
Adrian.

Have just clocked over 20,000km, which includes highway driving as well as a reasonable amount of towing a 2 tonne ski boat and a Jayco Swan OB trailer (not together, still figuring out how I could do that...............), Have averaged 10.46 lt per 100km over the total 20,000km.

Bugger Bali, get out and see Australia before we sell it all to China.
Just purchased GXL Diesel 6 speed and currently have done 1750k's, warning light came on at 1740k's. Does any one know how much fuel is left when the warning light comes on? Cheers Milhouse

There are a number of threads that talk about the fuel tanks... just search through the threads and you'll easily find the answer.
