  • Looking for injector specialist

    Hi Guys,

I have a 2007 glx prado that is in need of the new model injectors as she has small rattle on cold etc

I have read the huge article of this death rattle thing from top to bottom so consider me up to date.

My local mechanic is great and the boys can replace the injectors but lost when it comes to reflashing the ECU.

I have spoken with Walter at Rocklea Diesel in South brisbane but wondering if there is anyone on the Gold Coast where we are that I can trust and priced well.

Whats the best injector to go with, i am guessing the G3(the third redesign)injector.

    Thanks.

Prior to my having injectors (previous G2) replaced out of warranty I sought his advice on matter.
He knows his trade and it might be worth giving him a ring on above number.
What part of the GC are you? I'm at Hollywell

      Hi Pedro,

I'm in Broadbeach Waters, so your just up the m1 a little bit. Too funny, I just searched gc last night and they popped up, the only guys that looked the deal from what I could see, good to see you have had experience with them.

I will call Alan now. When you had yours done how much was it and did they put new seals in etc as old seals were faulty too.

      Thanks Pedro

I got mine done out of warranty. Toyota agreed to pay for half parts no labour . total for me was to be $1400.

Had extended warranty and swann insurance picked up the bill for that.

Not sure what they did apart from replacing injectors.

        Good luck

          Hi Pedro,

I am the 2nd owner of this prado and its a 2007 like yours so definately out of warranty however how would I go about getting toyota to pay half the amount too as I am a little pissed that I even have to do this, its there fault not ours or is that next to impossible and just should I just get it done. I really didnt want to start with something like this but looks like it just needs to be done.

Who actually did the injector work, was is toyota or did you get Alan from GC specialist to do the work and toyota payed half the bill.

Let me know if I am completely wasting my time on this as you are probably 1 owner and you did have an extended warranty.

            Rob, Toyota did the work.
History was that I went to Office of Fair Trading and they suggested I go to the dealer from whom I bought the prado (new).
Prior to that I had been to local gc dealer and they tried to get me to have 1 injector refurbished. Alan told me only 4 new ones would fix the problem.

Dealer I bought from booked car in for a cold start, and then took up the case with Toyota.
When offer was made re the $1400 no prior mention had been made by me about extended warranty.
Dealer then took matter up with swan insurance.

It might be a long shot but I would suggest contacting Office of fair trading to see if you have a case.

              Thanks Pedro,

I think been 2nd owner and 120000 clicks and the original owner purchased in act I am pretty much screwed.

Spoke with Alan and John (##########) and I think I will have to bite the bullet and just get it done..whatever.

Will try and call fair trade and see how much they laugh at me.

So you did have the water filter thing done at Alans heh, he does sound very calm and cool and The Roo says he has heard of him which is good, might check him out over there and get a complete list of the things he will do to assure this jobs done 100 percent correct.

Got the prado for a good price so not the end of the world, just a pain in the u know where.

              Thanks Pedro, Rob

                    Hi VZ,

The cost is the same across the board, Clint and walter from Rocklea Diesel, Alan from GCDS and ##########, all $3000.00
After having a big talk with The Roo yesterday I can see he really is a wealth of knowledge.

I think all 3 places sound like they do the job well so I just have to pick. I am leaning towards Alan as he is GC and will save alot of BS getting the car up to Brisi etc.

like I said, they all cost the same, one guys just closer. Pedro is the only guy so far that I know has met and used Alan for non injector work and said he was very pro.

I think i may drop in to Alan today and meet him and just go through the process once more with him person to person as The Roo gave me a really awesome insight as to what is and should be involved in this important process.

Love professional people, the Roo is just that.

                      Rob,
If you are up this way and want to see the standard of his work on the water sedimenter he fitted send me a pm.

I am sure you will find that Alan can answer all your questions.

Well I dropped into Alans shop there at GCDS and wow. He has a very professional business there and after he gave me the grand tour of his workshop I have no doubt this man is a pro. His shop is immaculate and his knowledge and equipment is top notch. I will be going ahead with the installation of new injectors on tuesday which I now feel are in very capable hands with this guy.
