According to the Sat Nav the speedo is out. 100 indicated is 108-9. Around town I sit on under 60 and seem to go with the flow, ie not getting passed and glared at.
Interesting comment though, I thought they were connected. Maybe both are out? I guess find a known length of road and reset trip B, drive it and see?
Maybe I have a problem, maybe false info is giving skewed results?
Got a bit of running around to do tomorrow, I may pick up some injector cleaner anyway but fill it up to check my results too. We did 6500km in the Territory in 12 months, the 3 tank test could be a while...

Not sure which one I used...but it was only $13. From any auto shop and recommended by an ex toyota deisel mech....

What have you got to lose? Do the test and without a doubt it will give you a true pattern on your fuel useage...

          Give It a crack

Ive got a 2006 kz with front n rear bars, roof rack with foxwing permanent, 265/70 tyres, beaudesert exhaust, dp-chip, drawers with permanent engel 40 litre. I did have a problem early last year with dirty fuel ( i was using 19/100) got injectors cleaned n fuel sorted m now returning 13.3/100 round town, fully loaded for offroad touring at xmas with 2 people n all gear n food about 15/100 in f@#%&*g hot air temp. In 2010 did the Cape and for 8000 k averaged 12.9l/100

              Regards

I think I might be a good candidate to comment here. I live is Adelaide and I bought my 1KZ Grande (Auto of course - 4 speed) in 2003 brand spanking new and then over time added:

265/70 BFG AT KO's (Got 96,000km out of these)
                Safari Dtronic
                ARB Bar and lights
                Dual Battery
                Roof Rails

Before I added any of these bits the best I ever got was 11.5 l/100km. and that was driving the car reasonably loaded with 265/65 craptreks at average 90-95k's or so on bitumen. Around town it was at least 13l/100km probably more like 13.5.

Once I went to the 265/70's: up she went.... by about a 1l/100km rounding, although hard to say exactly as i wasn't too scientific about measuring.

Then I added the bar and dual batts and roof rails and dtronic at the same time.... around another 1l/100km to both measurements...

So my rule of thumb was loaded on highway with all the bits and 256/70 (not towing anything)if i got to under 13 it was a miracle and around town anything under 15 was rarely seen.

After my beloved 265/70's died from overuse after 96k of happy motoring (got 30k out of craptreks to start with) I went back to 265/65 D694's and lo and behold I'm right in the mid 14's around town and in the mid-high 12's for highway...

Another useless bit of info.. My son has been on his L's and learning in the Prado. He puts his foot down (hoping it will turn into a maserati) and the consumption on average goes up a little bit compared to me, so different driving styles also have an effect.

                Hope this helps...

                  LOL teenagers :P

Maybe the mrs is flattening it everywhere she drives ? anything past 1.5inch of downward pedal will be going straight out the back and giving her no more performance. I had troubles adjusting to this myself coming from a dunnydore. i was thinking all the extra pedal and it does nothing .lol.

Still lurking here guys and girls...

As a quick update, I put a can of cleaner through it and am about to double check the numbers, although there does seem to be an improvement. About 550km now with no light on and still a bit to go before it gets to half. I will wait until diesel drops in price over the next week or so before filling up. Will let you know.
