The following DIY video is on changing the oil and engine bay fuel filter. I change my oil every 5000kms. I still have to install a catch can.

2 very important things on a D4D:

Check the oil level first before you drain it to make sure it's not filling up with fuel.

Check the oil pickup it should be shiny clean.

If you don't know what I mean, keep reading Prado point or take it to somebody who does.

Good points and things I religiously do. I check the lubrosity ( we used to use a calibrated "stick" from Mobil for checking the viscosity of the oil. The stick was inclined to a set angle and the time taken for the oil to reach the end at room temp would tell you if the oil was contaminated with fuel oil) of the lube oil with my fingers and smell, you soon become accustomed to how it should feel, look and smell. I also have a small camera which I use to check the lube oil suction strainer directly above the sump plug hole. Do this every 5,000 k's and too date no problems @ 96,000 k's.
