  • fuel filter disconnect wires?

Just picked up a 2nd hand 120 this afternoon and only noticed after i got home that this connector was disconnected running from the bottom of the fuel filter.
Haven't plugged it back in yet - wanted to get thoughts on it is? I assume a sensor of some sort?

Plug it in. I bet the buzzer goes off. It's the water sensor for the fuel filter.

Has the filter been changed recently? Someone might have forgotten to plug it back in.
I had an old hilux with a dodgy sensor that I left unplugged for that reason too ROB83R

Nothing to worry about, just change the filter, use either the same type or change to a CAV type. The CAV type will be better, you wont be using those wires again though as it has a glass bowl to catch the water, the benefit is that you can see the quality of the fuel and it only costs $5-$10 to change the filter and it has better filtering qualities.

          Thanks guys!
I thought it might have been the sensing wire for the water.
I plugged it in and no warning light or anything. Haven't driven it yet with it plugged in so will see how i go. Getting my mechanic to have a look over it in the next couple of weeks.
Are the CAV type filters expensive? Are there different brands etc?
