hey fellas i'm about to order a new head for my 120 1KZT-E any suggestions on which is the best place to get a complete ready to bolt on head , I live in port Macquarie and have found a couple locally but have contacts in Brisbane and Sydney to pick up and get delivered to port . any suggestions would be great cheers

Cost me 4k all up with them doing the work. I certainly wouldn't but Toyota head as the part number for the head never changed, didn't even superseed so would indicate to me same shit head. I can find out if you want the brand used on mine let me know if you need it. Don't go buying shit from eBay heard their worse then the factory ones. Mine went at 103K with full service history....all genuine parts ... Cheers Steve

Thanks Steve , have spoken to a bloke up at Kempsey from mid coast engines I did mention the ongoing problem with the factory heads on the 1KZT and he did inform me that the factory heads are crap and they don't use them at all . heads are sourced through an aussie supplier which come from china which is where nearly all engine components these days come from . Quote for new head with all new parts , gaskets and head bolts $1200 which is a little cheaper but on par with most prices I've got so far .......... Phil

Just chased up sms diesel they use AMC heads which are Spanish made $1400 complete without gaskets or head bolts

All the experienced diesel fitters and engine gurus (########## et al) always recommended AMC heads. For the slight extra I'd go for them just for peace of mind.
There are a few threads on it. If mine ever went..AMC all the away. The aussie supplier could source the same heads....just branded to a diff mob??
