Phoned West End Diesel Service in Sydney and they seem to confirm what Diesel Care are suggesting. Fingers crossed it's the fix!

Well at first I thought the chip could be the source go the issues hence the reason for the change to the Steinbauer. I replaced the head not that long ago due to pre combustion chamber issues that I thought were caused by higher than normal EGT's due to the chip but from what Diesel Care found with the injectors (WAY too much preload on the internal spring and a hopeless spray pattern), it was more than likely due to them?! So new injectors have been installed which helped but has not fixed the issue, hence the pump being installed as they are saying that there is not enough fuel getting to the Injectors now.. We had the injectors serviced a few years ago but it sounds like it may not have been done right.Originally posted by djnapkin View PostBugger. Hope it gets sorted out without too much hassle and $. Coming up to 160k on mine and pondering doing the injectors. I don't have a chip or anything like that though. Could that have contributed to the issues with the injectors and pump?
After reading this they may just be right! http://www.landcruiserclub.net/forum...Z-TE-fuel-pump
We were having a major lack in power, would hardly reverse up the driveway some days at the last place we were at and it hunted badly at idle especially in gear and more so whilst cold. It also cut out on a few occasions without warning and then would be a little hard to restart..
Things came better once I did the head though. Hasn't stalled since, still hunts occasionally but not as bad but it certainly blows plenty of black under load

Just on 190k
At 1st they were saying that it only had 30hp at the wheels on the dyno which doesn't sound right as it still pulled up the great dividing range last week at 100kph towing the Jayco, it just blew crap loads of diesel out the backside and got rediculously high fuel consumption.. Only since reinstalling the ChipIt..
Brief was to install a Steinbauer and tune it on the dyno plus give the system a once over. Now were up over $4g's and no chip install. FFS

It's not related, but tyre shops have common issues with wheel studs breaking, Prado ones, it happens all the time......Originally posted by MUMSRIG View PostHi all,
Anyone ever replaced their fuel pump in a 1KZ?
MUMSRIG is at Diesel Care in Tamworth at the moment and they have said that the fuel pump is knackered.
It is being replaced along with the Injectors due to fuel consumption issues.
Diesel Care say that it's a common issue in the 1KZ and that they replace them all the time.... I can't find anything on here that suggests that?
Cheers
Funny thing is I have never had a broken wheel stud in my life of working on vehicles.
Is it becase they are doing so many? Or because they are rough pigs?
No fuel pumps in 1kz either, it does happen, but not very common at all, maybe common for them as they are the diesel shop.
If the do the lot, they cover their bases.
Back to the tyre shop, after they broke one "it was only 125ft/pd on the torque wrench" yeah sure they used a torque wrench, but way too tight.
There u go, an answer with extra dribble at no extra charge
