Engine noisy

I have a 2003 Prado turbo diesel and it has been in good shape following modifications. I really like the SUV but am regretting the loud noise produced whenever i hit the road. when vehicle is waiting, the engine sounds normal. I sent it to shop for the guys to trace for leakage on the exhaust but it tends out that nothing odd was detected.
Do i need to install any cat converters to reduce this noise? am really not comfortable and please help with your advise.
