Thanks for your responses.I am a mechanically ignorant man and so the background to this question is : We bought the Prado 2nd hand in Dec 2011.We used the local Toyota dealer to service it and August 2013 the steering oil was replaced. Then in March 2014 I took the Prado to another 4WD mechanic and he replaced the power steering oil. And he did the same thing last week .When I questioned him about it he said we should keep an eye on it because it could be a problem with the pump.Is this a correct assessment ?Thanks and cheers.

Like said, there is no schedule.
I see them 300,000k old & oil is ok, so I'd say definately not required at low Klm's.
Changing it every 6 months us a bit over zealous.
Every 100 or 200,000 could be the go.

Fair point Sean , but the service report lists "power steering flush / replenish".It does not mention fluid or oil. However the Toyota service on 08/13 says "...renewed power steering oil".And now that i am looking at it again the Toyota service report also lists a Power Steering Kit as a separate item.I wonder if this kit is standard and was used by this new mechanic .
Cheers
