  • Hi All,

Just a quick one to run past the masses. We're looking to get the injectors replaced with Baileys and the workshop has quoted $2,445 for the lot. Baileys injectors, Valve clearances to be done, New fuel lines (Toyota), Rocker Gasket (Toyota), check the oil pick up etc.

I just wanted to make sure this was a fair price, thoughts?

    Cheers.

    • I don't think that's unreasonable awd2.0t, mine was shy of $2,000 but without the valve clearances or new fuel lines and pick-up check.
(valves done at service just prior to injector issue)

I'd also enquire about checking your suction control valve, apparently they can play up after injectors are replaced.
Not an expensive part and little or no labour to change it while they've got your rig in the shop anyway.
      Cheers
      Micheal.

        Egr clean?
        Suction control valve?

        Pretty reasonable price otherwise.

I had mine done last month locally by a BDG recommended garage. Total cost was $2560 which included the cost of freight to and from BDG.

If you take the car to them they make a call on the EGR clean and SCV when they see it. It's extra to do. They called me each step of the way to let me know what was going on and to seek approval. In my case EGR was clean so didn't do it but SCV was done. Think it was $210-260 from memory. Think EGR clean is similar. Can't quite remember

            • Hi guys,

Just to clarify, the breakdown of our 'usual' charges are:
              $1298 for 4 injectors
$ 275 for basic remove + refit of injectors
$ 220 for complete intake and EGR removal, cleanout and re-fit (only done if required)
$ 330 (worst case scenario) for Suction Control Valve - fitted (only done if required)
$ 330 complete set of fuel lines (only done if required)

So the whole box and dice drive in / drive out is a worse case scenario of $2453. Most come in under $2000.

              Hope this helps

Price didn't include SCV replacement or EGR clean and as noted above they will check it as they go through.
I also said that I wanted to put a provent catch can on there and they seemed to think it wouldn't be necessary until the she had higher km's. (Currently-100k). So I'll just do that myself or at the 1st service after the injectors.
I'm guessing with a new SCV the total bill will be around the $2,700 ~ $3,000, but at least it's done and hopefully (fingers crossed) reduces allot of the risks of an engine letting go....
I'll provide an update once it's all done.
                Cheers,
                Sean.

That's more like my pricing, the one I did today, included, oil change first to check oil pickup as it was 2006 hilux with copper.
Full engine bay wash down with cover off the day before, so it's clean & dry! Cleanliness is next to godliness with this job.
                    BDG injectors.
I stick with Toyo advise, new Injectors = new lines.
Egr clean is really part of doing the job properly while you are there.
                    New Scv
Warren & brown on all injector, pipes & rails, which takes time.
                    New fuel filter.

                    Just over 3k

So I think you are in the right price. There are cheaper places around, but go and see there workshop, mechanics ohh and ask to see the tension wrench & 17mm crows foot.

                    • We got the car back yesterday after having the injectors replaced (Baileys) and I did a quick Techstream test when I got home, not really a proper cold start, but you got to check don't you?? At start up the injector volume was around 8's (Arrgh!! = impatient!!) and then slowly dropped down to 5.5's (YEAH!!).
Ours weren't too bad to start with, but I wasn't prepared to risk it. So pretty happy with the result. Just need the catch can and the engine should be good for the next 100,000 km's or hopefully longer!!!

                      FYI price just over $3k.

Nice one! You did the right thing! It's not worth the risk to leave old injectors even if the numbers are ok.
Your Price is spot on for one with the lot done right.

5 years 120k is the use by date, for these injectors, some go off before that. Some are lucky & go well past 200k. Only just lol......
Had a member from another forum post his 150 series has shagged out at 103,000k. Yes another 150.
It was just serviced at Toyo at 100k.

I really want to get it out there, these injectors are wear n tear items & with misinformation from many workshops, it can cost owners big cash.
Many of these can be avoided.

                        • Has anyone taken legal action against Toyota or taken them to consumer affairs about the D4D injector failures or pistons cracking?

                          http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post435990

My last post was September 2013 when the engine failed and needed a rebuild due to a cracked piston.

I am still pursuing Toyota for what is a known injector fault that they have ignored.

I'm interested in hearing from anyone who has made a successful claim with Toyota.

                          Regards

Another 150 went pop, it was around the same date as the above one. Both had injector feedbacks in the 5+ region.
Don't believe anyone who says they are ok, without a reliable check first.

Saw a d40 today super noisy, not much left in that one if they don't get some injectors soon.
