    Rattle in later models

I have an April 2008 build GX. Does anyone know if Toyota have made any changes to later builds to fix the problem ?

Also I'm wondering how many high km D4D's don't have the problem ?

    Thanks
    GX D4D April 08 build

But I am now baffled by this as we started it this morning and not a peep, no rattle at all. Dos not bode well for them to check it out.

Considering they are my local dealer and I chose to come to Adelaide I think that says enough.

Jarvis did everything I wanted and they even met me at the airport when I came down to pick up the car. It was a Saturday and they picked me up late Saturday afternoon and drove me back to the dealership, took me over the car gave me a full tank of fuel and I was in Pt Augusta Saturday night enjoying a beaut Indian meal at the Standpipe motel.

                Hi all,

Any commonality between vehicles? All built just after the mid year earthquake in Japan in 2007?

The link below covers a response by local dealership and also by Toyota Australia re a letter I wrote regarding dealership using an additive for an "on car diesel fuel injection service"

Whilst the dealership said in their opinion the additional service would not reduce any new car warranty provisions Toyota Australia were most adamant that any damage caused by fuel oils and fluids other than what is in their booklets would not be covered by new car warranty.

Well Toyota have had my car all day and the bad news is the injectors are framitzed.

They are ordering new injectors and need to follow the process that Toyota has put in place. Hopefully they will get them and install the new injectors on Friday. They said it was quite an involved process as they need to be set up not just thrown in.

I guess the diesel mechs on here can verify that or not.

Personally it makes me wonder about the viability of the D4D here in Australia with our current diesel fuel. There is no other sign of contamination in the fuel system but the injectors are stuffed according to Toyota.

They replaced my inner wheel well splash guards as they were originally cut too much and were starting to buckle into the wheel well.

They also did not want me to drive the car all that much until the injectors have been replaced.

My worry now is how long will the replacement injectors last till they suffer the same fate????????

Mav that is bad news. I hope it can be sorted out quickly. Any news on why or what can be done to prevent recurrence?

Toyota did not say what could be done to prevent it and I suspect that with the current diesel sold here in Australia that it will continue to occur which is a pretty dismal outlook for us D4D owners. I have not used any additives so this damage has occured by using stardard diesel.

They know where I am from and they know that I have to be heading home on Sunday morning at about 3 am.

Actually we were going to head up to Pt Augusta on Saturday afternoon after leaving Morgan but the whole Morgan outing is on hold now.
