  • Birklee / Domin8r exhaust for D4D

I know that exhausts have just about been done to death, but...

I'm interested as to what performance results people have got from fitting one of the Domin8r / Birklee exhaust systems to their 120 D4D.

I've been told that it gives a better exhaust note, but does it give a better performance ?

    Cheers

    Hi Palmer,
I just installed mine on the weekend... sure it gives a better note (without being obnoxious) but i have no complaints with the performance yet... I did have to modify the brackets on the exhaust as it was sitting low at the back and would hit the cross member, but my friend Thor sorted that out pretty quick

Thanks Hass, good to hear it gives a better note, although I'm not to worried about that - just want improved performance (well as much improvement as an exhaust will give anyway)

Hi Hass, Did you have any trouble with the removal of the old Dump pipe bolts?? I have heard they can be a bugger. Did you purchase the S/steel or normal system.? I have been watching it for a week or so but have not committed to buying yet till I know more about the system. It certainly looks the part. How much extra oomph do you feel/ Sorry about all the questions but I imagine there are many out there wondering and you have done the deed. Looking forward to hearing a bit more about it. Thanks and cheers Bill.

Sorry guys, havent been on for a while!

I got the S/S version, and just finished the first tank which i managed to get about an extra 80-100km out of... so not too bad! I will be happy if it keeps up this way!

On the oomph side, not sure exactly how to quantify it, but it feels a bit more responsive and i don't need to change down gears up hills any more where I would normally have dropped down one...

As an overall - I am certainly not disappointed for forking out money to do it, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it for those willing

Hass do you have a chip as well or just the exhaust?

I've read that having just an exhaust can cause issues with the turbo spooling up to fast causing over boost and engine faults. Need to do more searching on here to see what I can find out, but assume you've had no problems.

Would just like to add to this, i fitted my birklee / domin8r exhaust today. Fitment was easy. Everything lined up nice. I was surprised it wasnt that much louder than stock. Engine picks up much quicker down low and definitely has more power all round.
