  • Hey Ozbush.

I have a 2012 GX Prado with the 1KD-FTV, just want to confirm before purchasing that this will suit as im not sure if this is fitted with the digital EGR sensor.

    Thanks Jason

    EDIT:

I have been I contact with Young and he has clarified what sensor I have. Mine is an April build 2012 and is fitted with the digital sensor.

    • Hi Jason,
Toyota people don't know this I recon.
As far as Toyota concern all Prado 150 are equipped with digital sensors.
However, I have seen analog MAF sensors in the Toyota Prado 150 with my own eyes.
So there are some confusions going on but I just treat as two types.
Some Toyota gentleman recons there maybe two source of vehicle coming into Aus market.
I wonder is anyone knows about it?
I have digital versions of prototype manual mapper is running in the field but it will take quite sometime to be proper product like June.
      Cheers

      • Hi All, Happy Easter. I went for a 300km drive over Easter, approx 200km on highway rest on dirt roads. A bit of heavy mountain climbing (dirt road). Very disappointing fuel figures. Average on Scan gauge was 15.3L PHK. < Not good.> I have installed my manual mapper from Young and rerouted the coolant from EGR cooler. Rerouted engine gas out to fresh air via the catch can, full block off plate and still can't get a good reading. Highway speed was between 110 and 120km per hour.
I did have a crack on the cooler pipe earlier, but I feel I sealed that off with heavy high temp silicon when I fitted my full block off plate. I have Manual mapper set on 8+. Have tried 5-. Not a lot better. I am going to remove battery + terminals and reset the computer and see how that goes. Has anyone got any suggestions???? Cheers Bill.

From what I see, (prados every day), if its the size you go by, the 120's have analogue & 150's have digital.

          Hope it helps.

Respectfully to the o.p, Not sure if this is the thread for fuel economy talk.
So I will give one reply, further will need to take it elsewhere I think

            1. Slow down to 100k
            2. Check & replace air filter, Clean maf sensor.
            3. Clean map filter.
            4. Don't go by scangauge too much, they will show worse figures than it is on heavy trip.

            Cheers.

            • Scanguage is good when it reads a little higher than actual, you tend to drive a little smoother and it shows at the pump come refill time.

              • Hi all, Thanks for the quick replies, I didn't mention that I just cleaned the MAF sensor with the proper MAF cleaner. CRC I think. The sensor unit was quite clean, no oil residue or junk. Also blew the air filter out as well.
####, I remember reading how you said to clean the MAP filter when I cleaned the manifold / EGR etc. Can you please remind me where and how??? Something about squirting carby cleaner through somewhere and blowing with compressed air. Does that sound close. I will go back and see if I can find it.
I have to admit that I had a friend driving this weekend and he has a more aggressive driving manner than I do, but I still thought it would have been better than it was. The other thing that is staying with me is I have new tyres fitted a month ago so there is a slight change in diameter. Same size but new. 265/70/17.
I am at the moment going through a process of elimination to see if I can improve my KPH a bit. One thing I am loving is every time I check the oil. It is cleaner than a petrol engine after 1000+kms. I can see the dipstick through the oil.
Bushbasher, Thanks, I will take that on board re Scangauge. I thought that the figures it threw out were gospel. Anyway is getting late up here, thanks again boys. Take care and cheers Bill.

                • Bushbasher ,hi mate, when you start a run somewhere does your Scangauge start off on a high average, e.g. 48 > 65 KPH. Mine starts high and only gets down to a 12.5 after approx 100 kms @ 100/105 kph speed on cruise control. Is this normal??? Thanks and cheers Bill.

                  • Hi all, I think I have worked out my Scan gauge problem being so slow. I changed the rate it goes through the system from Normal to Fast. I can see the LHK changing every 2 seconds now where before it seemed to take forever. With new air filter am getting low 11s > LHK. A lot better. Also trying out the 2 stroke oil in fuel trick. Catch ya. Cheers Bill.

                    • Young, Hi mate, just a quick one. Have you got a manual mapper for the Toyota 200 series out yet??? I have been telling my nephew about the mapper and he is interested in getting one. Thanks and cheers Bill.

                        Hi All,
Sorry for absence, I was extremely busy with field testing on new Mapper for digital sensor.
It is going very well but I have the whole prototype in big pile of bits.
So far testing is good I have 150 Prado that I borrowed from my friend (only for weekends) and other PX Ranger.
I have too many options in the new mapper which taking a lot of time to test that they are reliable.
New mappers got not only fuel trim and EGR delete but has other options that many members requested such as idle up, cylinder head temp sensing, water sensor in snorkel, digital battery voltage meters, DPF delete, proper road speed display and so on.
I am testing so many options and I am not sure how many I can incorporate into new mapper.
Then I have to turn them into proper production unit with military spec.
It looks like I am able to finish around June July but many thinks it is very well worth it.
Thanks for all the support from members of this forum, your suggestions were very valuable for the development of our new mapper and I will try to fit them all in.
                        Regards

Would I still be able to use my chip if I bought this manual mapper of you?

                            • Ozbush, if you can make and sell and device (plug and play) to enable manual control of the idle elevation switch; I'm very interested. Don't need the other stuff.

                                Hi RedHilux,
There are few types of Diesel Chip in the market but you shouldn't have any trouble to use our mapper as long as they don't touch MAF sensor.
In fact quite a few members who installed our device actually got Diesel Chips and had no issues.
The fuel trim in our mapper also worked very well with the Diesel Chips and no one complained so far.
                                Cheers
