  • 1KZ - How do I know if I need injectors?

    i have a 2006 1KZ that has done around 230,000km & still has the original injectors, what are the symptoms of worn injectors?
    Recently I have noticed a slight increase in fuel consumption & soot staining on the rear bumper & door.

    Whoops. Take it to a reputable diesel service setup and get them to read the injector values urgently I would say.

      230k on a 1kz I would say you should look at new injectors.

      Increased fuel consumption and blowing a bit of black smoke would be sure signs that they need replacing, but at 230k its almost guaranteed they are past their use by date.

        Does anyone recommend any person in particular for 1KZ Injectors in Brisbane? Or just to get them checked out?

          1kz injectors are alot different to 1kd common rail injectors. the injector pump is what does the timing of the fuel injection so not electronically controlled like the 1kd engine. If they are leaking you will see excessive fuel use but not as big a problem as what the 1kd ones will cause. Looking on ebay a set of 4 are ranging from $400 to $500. Im not suggesting you get the ebay ones but i would imagine a set from toyota or baileys would be around the same price.

              Don't forget to change glow plugs if they are stock. Chewy pm coming to you.

                      Thanks for all your replies, I have booked in with a local diesel service for the injectors to be checked & replaced as necessary & to have the valve clearances checked & adjusted. They will also check the pump timing.
