Just to provide an update I sold the car last night for $9K.
The phone went nuts when we listed it on Gumtree.
People were going wild offering up to $12K sight unseen.
Anyway for better or worse it has gone, it was a great car/truck and we had many good time and travels in it.
After getting three independent estimates for $15K to fix it there was no doubt that it had to go.

Good luck everyone with all your injectors and EGRs I hope they give you better service than mine did.
Back on topic, injector seats causing the engine to blow up, now you have sold it case closed! Done done done!!!!
So with a fresh $15,000k engine, it will be worth $30, or more to 40k, yep it had to go

All the best with your vehicle choices in the future, if its a diesel, watch those egr & injectors

There's no way an 07 Prado would be worth $40000! Maybe 25 to 30 at most. So if he spent the money on a new engine it'd be about break even.
Good call selling it as is if it was time to upgrade anyway.
      Can't we just keep travelling?

Thank you for your input, I see People are paying $25- $30,000 for 200,000k 2008-2009's, a decent 07 would be 25k as is.
Good prados are not cheap! The engine is the heart of the beast, a smart operator would pay a fait bit more for a 0k brand new engine.
I said 30 to 40k, if the vehicle was in Mickey Mouse condition & a new long motor from Toyota that has new injectors & waterpump, it would be closer to 40k
Anyway people don't always make the smart decision or perhaps I was dreaming, also you can't upgrade from a 120, they're the best! Oh yes you can a 120 with a new engine
Any decision done done done!!!! Is a good decision.
        Haha!!!

        9car+8engine+3labour & fluids etc = 20k. minimum 10k worse off
