I remember reading somewhere that if you take your prado to Toyota, you should ask for something in particular to get done. They wont do it unless you ask.

What was it again??

Furthermore, is their maybe a few things that a prado noob like me should be asking for??

They won't replace wiper blades unless you ask.

They will wash your car unless you say not to and ensure it is put on the service docket.

Best is to get your own Techstream cable off ebay and do your own checks every 10,000km.

Engine diagnostic, not just feedback values.
Every 10,000k.
No point asking them actually, they will say something like, it's ok, don't worry, what r u worried about, it will be fine etc.
Make sure they change that tank fuel filter at every 20k.
Under bonnet filter as an extra every 40k.
Check oil pickup every service if you let them remove the Injectors. I suggest you don't let them.
Check valve clearances & replace injectors at 120k, but not by them, get an expert.

Im guessing that they just plug a laptop in and not actually do anything mechanically to the engine. Would that be right??

Toyota will likely plug in the it tool.
It's checking parameters are in spec & or normal.

Diagnostic about 30 mins $70?
