Was yours in the recall for the sump screen? I would hate to think that the injectors were changed and this sump screen wasn't checked and has been like this for a looooong time.

Can wait to see these injectors.
Two other questions, has this outfit has been doing all servicing since your injector change?
Please remind me what month & year it is?
Injectors done in August 2014 along with a major head job, water pump and timing belt. Service at 130,000 and because I was going on a big trip I had another service done at 133,165 and had a fuel manager added and all fuel filters changed at the same time. 140,000 service done in Darwin after doing about 6,500 kms. 150,000 back here by GSM in August 2015. 160,000 service done December 2015.
Additionally I had the transmission flushed and refilled at 126,000 and a wheel bearing replaced at 150,757.
Going out with my camera shortly to get pics. Will post later this afternoon.Terry

OK.
The oil pick up.
The injectors.
The seats.
Piston #3.
The story.
1. Yes oil pick up blocked cause by blow-by.
2. BDG have yet to inspect the injectors but don't expect they have failed.
3. GSM says that it looks like one of the seats failed but these were genuine Toyota seats and 'they won't accept' liability.
4. There is a hair line fracture in #3 cylinder.
My response was great - but someone is responsible and 'are you sure the seats were installed correctly' because it has to be either (a) faulty injectors (BDG), faulty seats (Toyoto) or GSM for faulty installation. The cracked piston was a surprise given they had the head off and cleaned everything up when the head job was done.
GSM have given me 3 options from $7500-$9000-$11500
They have asked for a couple more days.
I made my position quite clear I will await advice from BDG re injectors and seats (they are getting the lot) but will then start action to get a remedy because this should not have happened at 40,000 kms after injectors installed.Last edited by OldGreyFart; 19-05-2016, 02:17 PM.Terry

^ What he said.
Do you have itemised receipts for the injector change out? Check the part number for the sheets. My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

This is scary hope you come out of this ok OGF, and not to much out of pocket ,if at all .sounds like you did all the right things and you just want a fair and right outcome and good on you for your approach , hope the others involved do the same thing.
Got me wondering about my oil pick up now my 09 120 , it has 228 ks on it not had it long but got injectors done , changed all my oils and a tranny sump off and flush , but haven't had the sump off to look at the oil pickup , got me thinking should I but don't see much about checking the oil pickup , any advice appreciated ,
Waiting for your next post OGF.
Alan.

What is really unbelievable is that any work-shop could do that sort of job without checking the pick-up. This problem has been around for a while now and there's still people and businesses still oblivious to the issue with the seals. Lots of people would have bought second hand D4D vehicles and would have missed the recall notice too. Only a dodgy business would be using the old seals or re-using seals during an injector change out.Dave

Just had a call from Gary Sheppard Auto (GSA) and they said they have checked their invoices and they were provided with kit with coper seats as part of my job by Toyota spares in Fyshwick (ACT).
GSA say it is quite obvious from the condition of the seats and the injectors that #3 seat had a fair amount of blow-by and the injector tried to compensate and this resulted in the cracked piston. No failure of the injector. Does this make sense?
When were the copper seats taken out of circulation? GSA said they have ordered another kit and will compare with what turns up.Terry

#### is probably best to answer this but I recall a comment that the copper sheets were phased out by the time the 150 was introduced so 2009. Any parts guy at a dealer can check that as the different part numbers are listed with dates.
On that basis I suspect the dealership supplying the parts are wearing the cost. Toyota superseded these sheets AND recalled engines with these sheets. Mind you the fitting company should also have known...My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

Not sure if it was relayed to you or not, but you're more than welcome to come up to our shop with the injectors (not necessary, but if you think any 'silly buggars' might happen, you're more then welcome to come) and watch them being tested.
Certainly shit news indeed, I actually wondered if they were some old stock or similar. I know when we started in 2013 there were ALOT of copper only washers still being sold despite being phased out in Japan factory in a long time ago...
