Just after a bit of advice regarding a noise that has been occurring under acceleration and load over the last few months. I have a 2009 120 series D4D auto with 150K. It sounds similar to a turbo spooling up but it is louder (not too obtrusive) and begun out of the blue so something has obviously happened in there somewhere. I had time to remove the intercooler today for a look as I was hoping it was just a leaky hose. It wasn't but I did notice quite a lot of oil throughout the intercooler inlet, outlet and down through to the EGR valve.
My money is on a turbo issue but happy to hear others thoughts.
Regarding vehicle history it was fitted with Baileys injectors at 110K (I was trying to stay ahead of issues and did this as preventative maintenance only....mistake!) and a further set at 130K under warranty when they began to knock and I was getting smoky starts. They are not knocking now but I get occasional smoky starts when parked nose down. Servicing is regular with oil/filter every 5K and book service by mechanic on the 10K's.
