  • D4D rattle - Survey and results - refer to D4D rattle thread

I have copied the link to the D4D Rattle survey and the results and created them as a separate thread here.

The purpose is only to make finding the survey link and results simpler ... not to create another entry point for discussion of the D4D rattle.

MODS .... is it appropriate for this to remain as its own thread ... or even as a sticky ? If not please feel free to remove it.

    The Survey link

Some early observations from the data ....

 On average, the engine has done around 17,000 Kms when its begins to display the rattle.

 52% of respondents state that they have developed the rattle with a further 9% not sure.

 17 respondents (38%) claim the noise is like something about to let go and fly through the bonnet ... or worse.

 So far, only two of the vehicles to develop the rattle, were not manufactured in 2007

 So far, only two of the vehicles to develop the rattle, did not use BP fuel.

Please do not read these observations as any form of guide or in-depth analysis.
The observations are likely to be as accurate as the Pedestrian Council's research into Bullbars

Once there is a reasonable sample to work with I can begin to examine some correlations.

    Cheers

        Great work Chippy !

It is good to make a start on it. I think this would be way more accuarate than any Pedestrian Council survey.

You haven't just targeted vegetarian, tree hugging, social wealthfare dependant, eco-latte drinking persons :? and then claim this is the major Austrailan view !
"Ooops I just deleted the internet, lucky I was able to recover 99.7% of it out of the bin"

Very good work Chippy! You're getting some good numbers into the survey now. Hope people keep on going with it. Hopefully we can get something meaningful out of it for prospective owners who are unsure.

Poor old Pedestrian Council. They can join the ranks of the Lada Niva Club...

                Another interesting question would be:

If you have had an injector replaced, which injector was it that was faulty:

                A. Injector 1

                B. Injector 2

                C. Injector 3

                D. injector 4

The reason I say it would be interesting is that it was Injector 4 for me as well. It would be interesting to see if Injector 4 is the problem with a majority of others as well.

Can anyone tell me for sure if the Australian D4D has the fifth injector in the exhaust manifold or is that just a feature of the 2.2 litre version of the engine?

Can you put the link in this thread in big red lettering Chippy?? Maybe people are missing it. :? :? We need some sort of Pradopoint newsletter to make people aware of it. Or advertise the chance to win a free 6 pack..... 8)

Hey is this Rattle Survey MkII?? I used to get a message saying that I'd already completed the survey if I clicked the link. But now I get into it. I don't wanna taint the results by doing it twice. :?

It depends on your ISP and the plan you are on. Some ISPs charge for a fixed IP address, Internode do this so if you are on a standard home plan with them then your IP address can change when your modem/router is powered off and then powered back on.
