    Scoot it'd really be good if Pradopoint and Toyota could start working together like buddies. Not sure it will happen though. Seems that Toyota do monitor the forum and not just in case they can help us out. It would be really really good for the forum though IMHO if Toyo reps could offer some comment on some of the issues people are coming up with. We could only benefit from working with Toyota rather than against them. Anyhow just a thought.

    Definitely let us know what you find out though because it will add to the forums knowledge base. We'd all appreciate it.

      Toyota could forge a good relationship with its vehicle owners and prospective vehicle owners given these volatile financial times, by offering a little feedback on vehicle issues, and I don't mean the politically correct IP, Litigation protecting diatribe that I hear from some dealerships when confronted with a vehicle defect by PP members.

        Well I suppose that's why it's a really doomed Idea from the start. Toyota really couldn't offer any comment other than the official company line on nasty issues. If they began admitting faults in their products in an online public forum it'd probably result in chaos for them. Still, you should never say never. People really would appreciate some comment from a Toyota tech on certain issues. Can I get "x" done at my next service? What is Toyota's position on "x" accessory product? What sort if wiring does "X" component have running to it. If Fuse "Y" keeps blowing what's up with that? I'm sure there would be something a rep could help us out with on a forum like this without going too far outside the Toyota company line. What do you say Toyota Spy??

          I'll tell you what I say... I FIXED IT!!!
          Well, I was fairly confident that the supply pump was the problem in my case, but I didn't want to just throw a very pricey part at it in the hope that I would fix it. So fortunately, in my position, I sought a known good vehicle and swapped the known good pump into the misbehaving engine. This did chew a bit of time, but the end result was excellent. I now had a vehicle that I could reliably cause to fault when it was at operating temperature, that would not fault. This meant that I had to R&R the pump again to fit a new unit and refit the donor one to it's owner again. A couple more roadtests to get the vehicle to fail point again with the new pump and still all good!!
          Just to refresh the fault for you, this vehicle was over pressuring the common rail for only a couple of seconds after start-up, but only at operating temp, causing a sharp diesel rattle for 2 to 3 seconds. It must be a bit of an oddball one because normally when supply pumps fail, they just stop working.
          Long story short I suppose is that I can now relax and go fishing for the weekend, if the weather clears up for just a few hours.
          Cheers to all, and I hope this gets someone else out of trouble one day too.
