Re: 1KZ-TE Exhaust System by Manta in Perth. **PICS & VIDEO UP**

I stopped in at Manta and had a chat to Daniel about the Manta STING Module and it looks pretty good! They have also developed a new air filter for the 120 Series which will be produced by PIPERCROSS and for those into motorcross, they will be aware of this brands reputation for excellent filters. We trial fitted it to MUMSRIG whilst we were there and it won't be far away from production now.

I took a few photo's but will have to wait until we are back from Kalgoorlie to upload them.

Well, here it is... the MANTA STING Module for the 1KZ-TE...

It is similar in funtion to the TUNIT Module whereby it has 7 settings that can be easily changed.

This system draws a 12V+ power supply off the battery instead of the usual 5V+ of the rail. The unit is manufactured for MANTA in Germany and Daniel flew over personally to inspect the facility and their gear.

You undo those two allen keys to access the pins to change the settings.

MANTA has also been working with PIPERCROSS to develop an aftermarket Air Filter which has been tested to outflow the K&N when it's dirtied up.

They are not available for retail sale as yet. We trial fitted prototype tp MUMSRIG to make sure it was all good, which it was!

For those that haven't heard of the brand before, they are American and have a big reputation over in the States, especially for desert racers and moto cross bikes etc.

This one is for the 200 Series Cruiser.

          Hey Dave,

Just got a fitted quote from the guys at Joondalup Exhaust centre for a Manta exhaust (incl. cat & resonator) as follows:
          Stainless: $1935
          Mild Steel: $1575

Are you happy with your system and do you have any drone or resonance?

          regards,
          Ron

            Hi Ron,
I got the Manta steel 3 inch fitted at Joondalup, same place went for the mild steel no cat think it was 100 bucks cheaper with 2 boxes and dump pipe with EGT fitting welded in ,haven't gone for a chip yet but they do the Manta Sting Chip ,
Anyone got any feedback on chips for the 1kz motor.the Sting sounds ok and adjustable.
            Cheers Alan.

              1KZ-TE Exhaust

I know quite a few forum members have fitted the Beaudesert or Taipan systems and others have supplied the turbo flange that they have purchased from Toyota to an exhaust shop and had a system fabricated.

Would there be any interest in another off the shelf product (3" mandrel bent in mild steel or stainless) retailing from around the $1000 mark. You would also have the option of HPC coating the dump pipe if wanted.

This is not just limited to Perth members as Manta sell Aussie Wide.

The kicker is.... they would like to use MUMSRIG to do the R&D and their R&D is done in Cunderdin which is 170klm's from Perth and we will be without our car for the best part of a week.

I need to make the decision today as my mate will drive MUMSRIG to Cunderdin tomorrow on his way back to Kalgoorlie. Any comments from anyone would be appreciated especially if you would be intersted in a system yourself.

It would have been nice to have dyno'd it before hand to give a comparrison but this has come up all of a sudden with no time to arrange dyno's etc.

In my opinion as someone who has mucked around with hard working 1kz-te engines is that a 3 inch exhaust is unnecessary.
What is far more important is a big bore dump pipe and an exhaust gas temp gauge.
These engines are obviously known to crack heads and the culprit is most likely the turbo bottle neck.
They will easily run up to 850 Deg C and the driver will have no idea unless they have a gauge.
Fit the dump pipe and the EGT's drop back but you still need the gauge

                ^^^^
Beek speaks wisely, get an EGT (and I reckon coolant temp) gauge fitted before you go nuts adding more fuel.
For cheapskates like me, replacing the stock muffler is all that's needed to drop the EGTs by about 100C and allow the DTRONICs extra fuel to do the work without problems surfacing.
