D4D Oil Changes

Hi all, just wondering what D4D owners plans are for oil changes. I understand that they reckon you don't need to do it every 5,000km anymore, but I find that hard to get used to having owned diesels before. A service technician told me the only reason they increased the service interval was cause the lease companies don't want to pay for so many services.

I am leasing mine but there is a chance I will keep this car for a long time to come and don't want to reduce the life of the engine by not changing the oil just to save a few bucks.

I'm coming up to 5,000km so was just wondering what peoples thoughts are. I think the oil change is around $120?

Midge, you can change your own oil also for 5000k services, just use gen filter. I will also be changing oil every 5k doesn't hurt to look after your toy.

I'd also like to change my own 5oook oil change, and get it serviced every 10000k. My worry is that Toyota won't honour the warranty if there is no proof of maintainence .
My reading of the service schedule is that the 5000k oil change is manatory.

Receipt of purchase of oil will do. Thats what i was told put in service history.

Is the first service just a check over or is it a oil change (1000km). :?:

Had first inspection service done a 4750kms asked and was billed for
oil and filter change
Checked when at home oil filter not changed oil was
After discussing this with service mananger they have asked me to return
my Prado next week to change oil again and filter at no charge

Service cost $98.00
Mark your filters (put date on mine)

My experience is that sort of behaviour is not unusual for Toyota service centres unfortunately. Although I'm sure it's a bit unfair to single out Toyota. I'd suggest it's rampant where there's big business in search of the mighty bottom dollar...... and a lack of integrity!

Consequently, I categorically do NOT get my vehicles serviced by Toyota!
