Did find a bit that states: NEVER apply more than 21.3 PSI to the actuator (Wastegate). So would be intersting to see these boosted up to around 19 Psi!
The 1KD is apparently running about 14.5 Psi max boost stock.

Hmmm, You got extra Kw, Yeah I can play too  I got one car sitting in the carport running about 390kw currently.. Does good skids...
Since the 1KD is a VGT turbo thats controlled by the ECU electronically you would (should) control it in the same manner to keep exhaust restriction to a minimum and boost at the desired level. Mechanical static adjustment is bound to sacrifice one end of the rev range for advantages at the other end (unless you go for a full mechical conversion to diaphram controlled VGT).

Interesting observation on boost - was that the Queens birthday weekend? I did not notice any change in boost (but dont spend a lot of time watching gauges either)?

BTW a few Jap 3.0L TD engines run ~15PSI (even 3.0L does the jackeroo does) if they are producing in the region of 120KW (Nissan ZD30 is a fraction lower boost).

Heavier TD engines run over 30PSI ex factory (some up to 60PSI).

wacked a boost gauge on the prado and got 12 psi boost pressure, thats with airtek snorkel, k&n filter and standard exhaust. starts making boost at 1300rpm and is at full boost at 1800rpm, boost holds 12psi over 3000rpm, no use going past 3000 cause its all over by then, just some useless info, where does toyota get the 7.4 to 9.7 figure from? cheers samo
had an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.

I got a question for you.. Where did you get the boost gauge, and where did you put it, where does it plug into the intake?
Reminds me of my safari in Africa. Somebody forgot the corkscrew and for several days we had to live on nothing but food and water.
