Hi everybody.
I have been searching high and low for answers, but with no results.
I drive a 2003 KZTE VX prado with 260k km on the clock. I bought it in a real good condition mid last year with 240k km on. All standard, but I did find a Unichip and switch later after some inspection. I also fitted a 76mm pipe from turbo to end.
2000km ago I noticed bubbles in the cooling system and a check engine light with code#12 (no RPM signal during cranking). I proceeded to have the head checked and tested. It turned out to be the famous cracked head.
I had the head replaced with a new AMC head, but with all the old components from the old head. New gaskets, new cam belt, water pump, thermostat, injector seals and washers. Injectors were also tested.
it all went together well, starts up and idle so smooth, but starts up at cold with a puff of white smoke. The engine runs like a dream, but it uses about 2L/100km more than before. The check light also have not come on again, but I can not find a reason why the high fuel consumption. Cam timing have been checked again and its all good.
