  • Orange Oil Pressure Light

    Dear Fellow Prado Owners

I really need some help, I have searched the forum but not really answering my question. So I have a 2007 Prado 3.0L D-4D Diesel Engine KDJ120, I have an Orange Oil Light, (Wiggly Line underneath), which I think is the Oil Pressure, but I might be mistaken.

Anyway, it only comes on when the temperature gets between quarter and halfway, I am concerned that no oil will be getting to the top of the Cylinder Head as this is what happened before, I took the engine out and replaced the cylinder head and cleaned everything out, (Oil gangways, Water gangways etc), retimed it and put it back into the car. She burst into life and sounds great but when the temperature reaches a certain point the Amber Light comes on, I have taken a couple of photos, one showing the Red Oil Can Light which comes on during Tick-Over but once you increase the revs it goes out, but the level is perfect, fresh oil.

So, now I am at a point where I need some answers and so I am turning to you wonderful Prado Owners, should you need more information please don't hesitate to contact me, Regards Mark

The Owners Manual indicates that, the light you have in the pic is for Low Oil Level, so either your oil level is too low or the sensor goes faulty once temps increase.

The oil level sensor if you want to replace it should be P/No 8949160080 and gasket for it P/No 8949360010.

ptommo59 to be honest with you I had a funny feeling that that was the case, but thank you for shedding light on it and its most definitely cleared that up. I might have to create another topic but I thought that I would ask on the off chance, I have a clutch fork that is supposed to sit into a hinge, the fork looks like a Y and has a pin in the middle, to remove it you open the inspection panels on each side of the bell housing and knock it out, however, do you know if there is an easy way to put it back in?
