[That is good news there Masso. Any idea on the labour costs and how soon you will be behind the wheels again? Are you going to chance the Simpson again (not necessarily this year) as this issue could have happened anywere. Did Toyo help cover the cost of retrieving the vehicle or did you end up slugging that as well?[/quote]
Back behind the wheel now... Labour was a cuppla grand all up, and no compensation for the recovery. Always wise in hindsight, as at the time of the incident i was unsure of the problem, so arranged to truck it to my local mechanic to examine... which he did, and hence we shipped it off to Toyota to look at. The rest is as above.
I will certainly do the Simpson again, probably not across the desert... as have seen it at its best.. but certainly out to Dalhousie and Mt Dare then maybe off to the rock... who knows! Need to save a few pennies first!

Well at least you havn't been put off by the experience, costly as it was. Good to hear it's now all fixed.
Good result. Was it the dealer at Ked something? Oh and the LS2 and LS3 may be old design and antiquated but a pig they aren't. They make some damned fine kW and Nm with very simple manipulation.

Great to see them come to that result Masso, it would have been very damaging to the Toyota reputation if they hadn't.
We all know that vehicles are built to a price, but a 4WD is a 4WD, even if most don't take it offroad. Obviously many do.
It makes you wonder if they should offer genuine upgrades, that the customer can choose(and pay for) ie locking diffs; stronger diffs; larger oil coolers and transmission coolers, etc etc for those enthusiasts that actually use their truck for 4WDing, towing etc. That way you pay your money and you make your choice, rather than having some weasel trim the quality to allow more profit.
It appears that mechanical engineering is so refined now, that a certain failure percentage can be tolerated ,knowing ,(indeed proving) that you have not overspent on your components for manufacture. :x
