Yeah My Cat did cost in the region of $300 - $400 which certainly did jack the price up. Interesting comment about going 3" straight off the turbo. I came across such comments as well but nobody had any solid info on exactly what the problems are going 3" straight from there. "Engine Management issues" was about as much as I got. Which I take to mean that some sensors begin to read 'out of spec' which in turn generates fault codes. Perhaps even the dreaded stepper motor fault. But I'm purely guessing with all that. Some people say 3" off the turbo is well worth it on a Prado, others say don't bother. Bloke who did mine said it'd be worth it, but that it isn't the case for all 4WD's. I can only assume its something to do with diameters etc upstream of the turbo outlet.

What's the purpose of the rear resonator if I might ask?

The rear resonator is to quieten the exhaust noise and to stop the drumming that is associated with some systems .
If you get a exhaust that drums you can usually bet it will be a cruising speed :evil:

All I get is that sweet exhaust burbbblle

I read on one of your previous threads that you had a thump noise from the rear on start up :shock:
A 3" system settling in :?: I would be concerned that if it is the exhaust hitting a start up -what would it do when you
go off road and really get the whole thing moving.

Maybe the S/S flexable joint on my Pacemaker system is to stop engine movement being transferred down the system :idea:

Also my system has a two bolt flange for the rear section which makes replacement eazy.

The thump was certainly a worry, but thankfully it seems the issue has been solved for now. Time will tell if it returns.

Also have the flexi joint very similar to yours Nickchap. I just didn't quite get it into my pics.

It's a good point though about going offroad with it and throwing it around the place. I'm considering getting more of the tougher Commodore rubber mounts and maybe replacing the lot with those. A little test trip might be in order to see how it all holds up. 8)
