Yes i have booked into CMI in town on Tuesday to let them have a look at the exhaust and see if there is a problem.they said if they cant do anything about it they will send a customer dissatisfaction notice to Toyota about the problem ,then its left back in Toyota's hands to get a fix for it.

Just rang D and T performance to ask about the extractors and if it will stop the tractor noise.they are unsure if it will stop it but will increase power :shock: :shock: (why you would want anymore i don't know)and quoted $750-$800 fitted not sure what brand.
If the dealers cant do anything i might be looking at this option.

Would i be right in saying that if i didn't fit the extractors and left it as it is it could do damage to the motor in years as it wouldn't be burning fuel right.?I am not very mechanically minded and have been told this COULD be the case.

Mate, mine had done 85000klm when I sold it, no sign of any adverse affect, and the noise was still the same

Word of warning about D&T exhaust.

I would touch them less than Peter Kittle. If you want to talk sideways talking tradespeople they are the best.

Cant say much more but they'll be possibly subpoena'd soon over one of thier little efforts if the client doesnt settle before.

G'day everyone,

I posted about some manifold noise I was hearing in the chk chk chk thread, but didn't get a reply, so hope nobody minds if I ask about it here as well !

Just got myself an 05 GXL V6 auto, and I swear I just heard this noise start up when I was listening to the engine, after I got the car ! Couldn't hear it when I listened when I was buyin it. Car has 80000 kms on it.

The noise seems louder on the passenger side than the driver side, and if you put your ear on the manifold on each side, you can definitely hear it bein much louder on the pass side. It also seems to change pitch when you rev the car, and the noise sounds very mechanical.

I went to my mechanic (who worked on my old 60), and when he heard it, he thought it might be lifter noise (lash adjuster). He didn't seem to think it was an issue.

Does anyone have experience with the exact location of the 'manifold' noise desribed in this thread ? Is this noise typically louder in one part of the manifold, or is it a constant sound everywhere ??

I was gonna take it to toyota to get em to do a ECU test, just to make sure everything is good, but am now a little wary of toyota servicing after reading many of the terrible stories here on pradopoint.

Should I honestly be worried about this noise (sounds to me like something is really loose), and can somebody recommend a good mechanic who knows prados inside and out in Brisbane ???

I can aslo feel a very slight rough idle every now and then, and I'm wondering is this realted to the manifold noise, or is it a timing problem ? It's only a slight roughness every now and then, but enough for me to notice it !

...anyone in Brisbane who has this manifold noise in their truck that I could listen to, so I can confirm that's what I'm hearin in mine ???

Thanks for all your reply s ,It was the last straw today as i went back in to the service department and got a copy of the letter from toyota stating that there is a problem with the exhaust noise ,they know about it but if they are going to fix it they will contact us.....until then you must put up with your new tractor :shock:
Also called back in to the front office and spoke to the twat that sold me the car.This morning i had great delight in taking the stupid plastic number plate surrounds that advertise there crap business,snapped them in half and gave them back to the sales guy and said i wont be back for anything(not even a valve cap),you have treated me like crap and i will tell everyone.
Now during his sales pitch to me he promised the world(and also promised to be looked after by all there)as i said at time of sale i don't mean to be rude but i was told the same by my holden dealer when i brought my jackaroo,and the same as now, once they have your money you are no longer looked after.
Yes i understand what you mean about keeping your cool but i have spoken to these people 6-7 times in the time i have had the car.And apart from the sales man sucking up my bum to get me to buy the car i have spoken politely to them but i don't think they know what customer service or satisfaction is as i have spend good money buying there product and suppose to be standing by there product they sell.

Peter kittle will still be in business in years to come but one day they will fall flat on the face,then we can all have a good laugh at them.

if you lived in NSW i would say go to BLACK TOYOTA BATHURST, those blokes do bend over backwards, and do whatever they can, its that good even if it pours rain on the day you have your car serviced it will be ready washed and vacumned... awesome service i recieve each time, i hear these bad stories but i wish they were all like BATHURST TOYOTA..
