Info on changing to larger exhaust

Hi, I am sorry if this has been covered. I have done a search and could not find any details ( please point me in the right direction if it has).

I was just after some feedback on whether any members have fitted larger exhaust systems to a petrol prado. If so what type, what sort of effect did this have on power and fuel consumption and what was the cost.

I recently completed a trip to Darwin, including doing the gibb and whilst towing a camper and also a roof rack returned fairly high fuel usage figures so was wondering whether a larger exhaust will have any benefits ( trip was awseome though)

Generally speaking, any modification that improves the "breathing" of an engine (i.e. more air, ported inlets, matched exhaust manifold, straight-through exhaust box, etc) does two things:

1. makes the engine run better, rev smoother, sound better and have better power overall, and
2. totally ruins the fuel economy!

hey guys there are actually a few posts on here about not so much the exhausts but the headers . changing to pacemaker headers and there is another brand from S.A can't think of the name right now . ..to many beers . i can never get the search engine on this new site to find anything . so go to the 120 section under engine or whatever , but when you search you need to go into the section to search last year or from the begining it takes a while but the info is there .somebody with half a clue will probably direct you there . the exhaust manifold on the 120 petrol is a hideous piece of crap that looks like it was made by a moron with a welder and some pipe offcuts .
