  • Custom exhaust with build pics + Xede processor

    Just had a mate knock up an exhaust for me. It's a 2/1/4 system into a 2/1/2 with rear Cats removed, 12" hotdog, 14" straight through muff - all mandrel bent. Sounds very meaty, maybe a little too loud so I'm going to add 2 small hot dogs on the Y piece behind the o2 sensors (where the old Cats used to be). Noticable mid range gains... It's going into Chip Torque tomorrow AM for a dyno run and an xede processor - will post both before and after dyno sheets.

      Sure does, tucked up next to the fuel tank..... looks a bit rusty, the downfall of boat ramps..





      I have a mp4 sound file with the exhaust sound - I'm not sure how to post this, but I can email to you if you like.
      The XEDE Processor is a performance chip (similar to unichip etc), however apparently more tunable... leaving now to get it installed

        Very interested to see the results of the chip. Been difficult to find anything for the 1gr surpisingly. Easier to source a supercharger and fit it...
        You want some new injectors to go with them? we need one more for a group buy...

          Yeah I'm only getting the Chip so I can fit and tune the S/C.... Who else is buying one? The guys at tuning the car said I will get very little Kw gains, but noticable torque gains from 1800 - 2600 rpm... But they said very hard to chart the differences with an Auto due to torque converter. I'll be picking it up after lunch so I can post the dyno then.

            Ok here is the dyno results... picked up more Kw than they thought, and about another 20Nm of torque.... definately notice the difference off the line which is where I wanted it. I'd say it drives like a stock prado again (i.e without bigger tyres and all the other weight).

            The torque curves are at the engine - note they can't accurately generate a figure from the dyno due to the torque converter (hence why you can only see from when the converter locks up).. Peak torque will be approx 20Nm over standard engine specs - ~400Nm. To get accurate dyno reading below 3k you need a manual lockup torque converter.


            Just have to order the S/C now for some real results!

                Chip Torque here on the Gold Coast - $1800 fitted with dual map (so I can add S/C later) + power run and dyno tuning.

                  What did you do with the cats?? Did doing the chip stop the engine light coming on??

                    I only removed the rear cats, kept the front ones so the engine light was never an issue as the sensors are before and after the front cats.
