Quote: They also suggested 200 cpi cats were they better option than 100, i'm not sure why?
Answer: They would have favored towards the 200cpi over the 100cpsi as the 200cpsi leans more towards the euro3 emission laws
EG: Vehicle Emission Standards ADR (Australian Design Rules) up to GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) 3.5T: "Petrol" 02-04 have to comply with euro2... 05 to 06 Euro3... From 06 to 2012 Euro4 From 2013 through to 2016 ALL vehicles will have to comply with Euro5 then the crap will hit the fan from 2016 when Euro6 will be introduced! RTFM! (Read the F-ing Manual).... Boooo! I think by then we will have to run hydrogen cars to comply!!! Lol!...... Electric cars in my books just don't add up????
I have seen retailers claiming that there 100cpsi comply with euro3 emissions but i think 100cpsi could drop below this!.... (I think so!) you would be within Euro3 by running 200cpsi. (Providing that you are not also running a high tuned performing engine).
I don't think your exhaust fitter is doing you any favors on pricing either!... The average price for 1 x cat 100 or 200cpsi (2.5") is about up to 200 to $300 bucks each! Look on eBay and get a few more quotes! (Ring around as cheaper and quicker than driving).
After all the above mentioned i am now guessing that you would be more comfortable with running 200cpsi
I also still think you would save allot more cash by changing just the resonator box (Big muffler in the middle, not the small one at the tail pipe) and both cats at the front (Providing that your 2.5" piping is ok).
If you are tight with cash then see how you go with just the high-flow muffler first..... If want more power and beefier sound splash the cash on the cats later!
I was naughty and got the 100cpsi... I would advise you getting the 200cpsi for peace of mind on the emission laws.
Cheers
