  • Just refilled my truck after my 4wd Action photoshoot. Alot of off road, low range, 5000rpm plus revs, did over 50% around town, 16.5 L/100km.

Bloody happy with that number !!

    • That's a very high figure & not my experience with a 120 V6 auto. I have now towed an 18ft van since buying the 120 in 2007 over many 1000's of kms & my average when towing is around 17.5/100. The highest individual tank was about 22/100 when it was very hilly with a really strong headwind. I'm very happy with my fuel consumption,

Even on the return trip -200lts of water (and a fair bit of beer) and sitting on 100kmh it didnt make a huge difference returning 28l per 100. I was thinking of going gas but after seeing my mates 200's at work ,might need to upgrade. either a oil burner 120 or bite the bullet and go a 200. the v6 120 is just nasty when towing.

      • My Prado mileage is about 240000KM already, fuel consumption is still pretty good, for the highway with long travel, normally it will be 11~13 L/100km (display); city + highway which is normal daily driving situation, 13~15L/100km; pure city driving, it will be hard to say, but definitely >16L

By the way, I noticed that, the displayed fuel consumption is sometimes 0.5~1L higher than actual calculation, don't know why.

          • With all my driveline tweaks and stuff; including new injectors and a K&N filter, my truck is going like a bloody train and still returning low 16's around town (I am not know to be nice to the accelerator either)....

              • just did 7680 ks cape return . computer average says 14/100 and backed up by actual figures . moderately loaded ,at least 3000ks of dirt or tracks and not hanging around on highways ie. i overtake everything and i don't sit 10 ks under the posted limit like 95% of the motoring public . from some of the figures ive heard from diesel owners im glad i bought a petrol . i own three diesels and i don't want another .
03 grande v6 , with added stuff that makes it go places . RTFM people !

                • Entire Cape York Trip: (from Brisbane) 5,626 km.
                  Overall Consumption: 13.5 /100km

Interestingly, another Prado 120 (a diesel) in our group did worse: 13.9 l/100km... So much for having a "gas guzzling" petrol engine!

                    • I just drove to Melbourne on Friday 16th and travelled 967km from Sydney to Melbourne. My prado used 90L. As I pulled into my partner's dad's driveway, the 90L indicator lit up.

Drove home from Melbourne back to Sydney on Sunday during the day and only used 90L again.

There were 4 people in the car, a boot full of luggage, AC on all the way, tyres are standard Grandtrek AT-20 pumped to 45psi. It's a bloody awesome car

                      • Consumption for a week on Fraser Island:

Went right up to Sandy Cape, and the lighthouse, visited all the lakes, etc. Various conditions, however the sand was generally very dry.

The result: 15.5 litres/100km over the week on the island. Pretty pleased.

                        • Recently came back from a 2 month trip - overall km's 10,500. Towing a 1.8t poptop as well as some tent camping with the Prado pretty well loaded & a luggage boot on the roof. Towing was about 50/60% of the trip. Overall consumption was 15.7 L per 100km. Very happy. Without the van on was around 13 & towing 16/17. Willy

                          • This is great to see these sorts of figures, im just going to be upgrading from a 2.5L Forester which does about 10-13l/100 so the upsize to the prado shouldnt see too much of a hit in fuel for us.

I wish.... I've just returned from a trip to Winton with a similar size van on the rear and experienced terrible figures. (ranging from 20 L per 100 through to 30 L per 100. (Shit fuel picked up at Charleville but once I got this out of the system, I was still unimpressed. I will most likely book it in for assessment Dyno to see where the issue lies.

                              • biggest difference in consumption and power was when i went from worn out grandtreks to new d694's . even with the exact same sizes , fuel consumption went up and accelaration went down noticeably
