That's funny - I just went out to check the km and b****r me the low fuel light came on

I've done 1094km since I last filled it up but have put 28L in since then. If 30L is correct for the light that makes 178L so 16.27L/100km.

My last post was showing figures of around 14 lph with a 2005 V6 with K&N filter factory bull bar and roof rack.
I have now covered around 20000 K's since purchasing the car and have monitored the fuel consumption working out how much fuel went in at fill up. (Always fill trying you use same pump. She'll 95).
I have recently added a scangauge and it is now within 1 or 2 litres accuracy.
Over the Xmas holidays I installed a Safari Snorkel mainly after reading an article regarding fuel consumption in a 4WD mag but also for its other benefits.
The latest figures I have now for fuel consumption in around 12.5 lph and I have noticed on longer journeys it has been below 12 showing 11.6 at its lowest.
When I bought the car I went for petrol over diesel as figures on the net indicated there was not a great deal of difference and I preferred the power rather than the economy. I knew it would be between 12 and 15 lph.
But if anything you can do to increase economy must be a good thing and it would be interesting to confirm it but I think there was a slight improvement in power after the snorkel but it might just be me.

I also plan to add extractors and have seen a thread on here that fuel economy may also improve with a noticeable improvement in power but after a rather expensive Xmas, landscaping and a new fridge I might have to wait a while.

        Hope this helps.

        Paul
paul that's a healthy set up then ,,, i'd be stok'd with that, cheers butane

        • numbers in, will confirm next fill on ltr 's used

today the low fuel light came on the the fuel burn is........ wait for it...... drum roll.........

          using the therectical 150l , 13.41 per 100kays , 918kays of previous post and 200 of gentle around town pick-up 's
been easy on the the right foot, and got those numbers ........total of 1118 km travelled...... the K&N was evan due for a clean but when i cleaned the supply side but those numbers make me smile

The v6 run on 98 , stock motor, power plug's , K&n , tyre pressures at the 43 front , 41 rear no load ......... those numbers obtained with virtually no load . bloody happy here , cheers boys butane

          • I just got my first set of fuel consumption figures since getting the injectors cleaned at the last service and I'm now getting slightly worse consumption. Toyota charged me $210 to clean the injectors and used the excuse that it would improve my fuel economy. It was between 16.25 and 17.5 and the latest figure is 17.9!

hi trekrider, wondering whether the v6 seemed to feel more responsive , evan tho the fuel figures are higher?, does the engine feel healthier?, cheers butane

To be honest I can't really say I've noticed any difference at all.

                      Those figures were around town.

I've just done another 540km - mostly round town but including a run up to the Powerlines today and got 18.15. That's probably not too bad for the Powerlines but certainly no better than before. I can say that the performance has improved though Butane, which has to be good.

                      • Hi All
I have recently fitted a set of power plugs and a K&N filter and after two trips to Coffs Harbour from Gold Coast and back and a weeks worth of to and from work i am getting 13.5l per hundred kays. Very happy. These trips were done with a full roof bag of gear and back loaded. Feels so much more responsive to with the new plugs.
                        Well worth the money.
                        Cheers

                        • On a recent run to Perth, I travelled at 110km/h on the way down and 100km/h on the way back. Obviously the fuel usage travelling at 100 was less, but not by a lot. I reckon I would of saved 20 litres over the 330km trip. I used a needle thickness over half a tank on the way down and a needle thickness under on the way back. But, travelling at 100 seemed to take forever,,lol
120 V6, with a little bit of this n that

have the same issue, with chasing fuel economy,,, but the fact it's a V6 ...... for 20 l of saving's ya mose well plant the right boot and cut sick... more fun and worth paying for''' cheers butane

trekky , i blew my figures out bush driving round the farm for two hours in low range and playing with the feel of the rig, late at night , six pack later , and parked it ... was a good learning experience but wont be chasing numbers for this
re=fuel'''''' used at least 100 kays of distance in experimenting on that first tank... but as my numbers are out for milage .. enjoying stickin the right foot into it again..... cheers mate butane
