Hi Darren. I have a 2016 V6, 4 litre Prado Kakadu and the fuel consumption is pretty grim. I can get about 12.5 l/100k on the open road but it often gets above 15 in the city. Once you factor in 4x4 stuff then you are looking at more than 18. However, having said that, I bought the petrol V6 on purpose as I wanted the smoothness and overtaking power of the petrol engine which is fabulous. I would never trade what I have for the diesel engine for many reasons but this suits my circumstances as I lease my cars so save 0.48 cents in the dollar tax + GST on fuel so it is far cheaper for me. If you watch the fuel costs then you can often buy large quantities of cheap unleaded, whereas in the West, diesel does not vary in price much. I think it appears you will be paying more for petrol in the short term but the servicing and repair costs are cheaper in the long run. If you are buying a second hand Prado, then you may need to consider these extra maintenance costs as a few extra dollars a week in fuel is often easier to bare than a $10,000 engine upgrade!!!!! Drive the two versions side by side and buy what you prefer. I did this and the petrol motor won hands down for power, smoothness and quietness (but I do recognise the advantages of buying diesel as well).

If you don't know how the two tanks operate it is when both are full the fuel gauge will indicate full. To make the maths easy when the fuel gauge shows 3/4 you have one full tank and one half tank. As the gauge continues down to half you have half of your total capacity or 90L left. This is when the gauge will go back to full and the 90L light comes on and the gauge operates as per normal until the low fuel light comes on and you have 15-20L left.
But some facts. The front tank is 87L, the rear 93L. The rear tank continually pumps fuel into the front tank. While you may have two tanks they operate as one large one and you can't select or fill only one.
Now with having your rear tank removed and LPG installed I would have thought the front tank would have the 90L light on and the fuel gauge operates from full down to empty.

Okay. We all know the V6s drinking habits is as bad or even worse than an Irishman but,
this is getting ridiculous. Especially after I recently changed the spark plugs, cleaned the MAF, and even did a computer reset (disconnect battery and leave it for a while). What else should I be checking? A/F and O2 sensors?[B]CANYONEROOOOO *whipping in the distance*

Thats not right.. I give mine fairly spirited driving and usually get more than 500-600 before tank switch. (Bar, winch, 256/70). On highway I've even seen just over 700 on first tank recently. (Avg speed 115-120kmh for 8 hours).
What fuel are you running?
I found giving mine a good service, changing air filter, plugs, cleaning MAF etc improved my economy.

You'll see a +/- 6% improvement going to 98 unleaded. Even using 95 is better than 91.
I do a long large hill up down twice a day too. And find that my economy around town averages at about 14lph.
Remember if you have 70 series tires on your odo readings will all be out too.
My 701kms before switching tanks was a cool night. Raining. All highway ADL towards Thredbo.

My understanding you have to do over 3000 to 5000kms before you see any changes
http://www.lcool.org/technical/prado...tane_fuel.html
In WA where I am at the moment Normal ULP about 1.20/Ltr compare to 98 Ron 1.38/Ltr 15% increase in fuel price for a 6% saving in economy or 15% as suggested in above link
Never actually sat down at actually worked out if better to move over to 98 Ron, decided to stay with the 91 when looking at bowser priceLast edited by KIMBOPRADO; 11-08-2016, 12:13 AM.06 Prado GXL,V6 auto BLACK,MT STZ LT265/65/17,toyota sovereign bull bar.Because of Prado Point HAD to get - Lovells springs/Bilstein shocks-50mm lift,ScanGaugeII,Dig Options AVN11TP GPS Unit, Lifestyle rack, Hilux Jets,AMTS 55W HID Black Euro Spotties,AMTS tyre carrier spacer,AMTS radiator bash plate, AJ120 rock sliders,LEDLAD interior lights,AMTS LED sov.bar,AMTS recovery points, safari snorkel and pioneer platform -DAMM YOU PP!!

I did a complete fill 170 litres of 98. First time in over a year.. (40,000+km).
I drive overnight to Thredbo. (1200kms). Saw changes immediately in economy, first tank lasted 701kms. Best I'd ever seen before on similar trips was 630kms.
I only use 98 when price is good..
Eg ADL overnight went (91) from 90.9 to 119.9...cpl...
Pisser. So no 98 now..

The wife put through 2 dual tanks of 98 recently and found no increase in range but was smoother. She now has run 3 dual tanks of 95 and range is better with the same smoothness so that's what we're sticking with for the time being whilst it's reasonably priced.2007 GXL V6 - ARB Bullbar with LED lights, snorkel, extractors, 2 1/4" dual exhaust, K&N filter, dimpled/slotted rotors, headrest dvd players, Ebay Satnav/reverse camera, GME 3100TX, Tigerz11 Side awning on custom brackets with Maxtrax mounts, 300W Invertor, ARB Underbody protection, Lightbar and STZ 265/70 tyres.
Wish list in order I'll get them: Sliders, 2" lift, E-locker, Winch bar with winch.
