I just did a trip up to south west rocks, did around 1900k over the 4 days. First topup was 12.3l/100k and on way home got 12.1l/100k. Car wasn't loaded up too much, just 2 blokes, camping and fishing gear and a fridge full of beer. Figures were worked out using gps and not the dodgy speedo. I am quite happy with the figures considering the way I drive, if you know what I mean. Car is an auto with cooper Atr,s and factory alloy bar.

        Hi Shane
as I have said many times when I read those figures on fuel consumption...I could only dream and wish mine were the same..have just bought a second hand Suzuki Grand Vitara to drive around town in and save on fuel...Gas up here is still 99 cents a litre and 140 cents for Petrol..so expensive motoring..but won't be travelling far this weekend with a Cyclone off the coast
        Merry Christmas Stevo

              Hi Guys
Im a newbie here so my first attempt at a post. Not sure if this is relevant to anyone but I have a 2005 V6 GXL Auto 79k and tow an Avan Aliner 2B which weighs just on a ton loaded. Also have a Waeco CF35 , a wheel chair, a bike and all sorts of stuff in the back of the Prado so an extra few hundred kilos when travelling. Just did a trip from Gold Coast to Yeppoon, and back via 1770 , Agnes Water (shocking road) and Bundaberg then to hervey Bay and back home. 70% towing 30% sightseeing. Total fuel 326 litres total klms 2128 and most into a strong headwind, Avg fuel consumption was 15.3 lt/100klms. I sat on 90-100 most of the time going up in overdrive unless hills , coming back in 5th with the cruise on. Very happy with those figures. Anyways,,,hope I havent bored you Cheers Artman....

That seem to sound about right for all that gear.Around town I seem to get 13 to14 and towing the van it jumps to 15"s.
Off to Hervey Bay again for Easter so will test the figures again on that trip.

Adrian - that doesn't give a good indication of usage. When the 90L light comes on that doesn't mean that you have 90L left. The Prado doesn't empty one tank 1st & then go to the other - in my case when my light comes on I will have used over 90L so there is less than 90L for the guage to show until empty - so as you have seen the guage drops quicker than you would think.

The only way to accurately measure is from fill up to the next fill up.

ok so after filling up a few more time now i only manage to get 500-550kms out of 90lts i only put 90lts in per time so i dont have to carry the extra weight around, so that works out to about 18lt per 100kms sound about right? really no heavy fast lead foot driving, hardley over 3000rpm so any one else in the same boat i see some of you are getting down to 12tl per 100kms??? cheers guys.

Adrian you should be getting a lot better than that. The only way you can get a good feel is to fill the tanks right up to 180L & then measure usage between fills. From my experience the guage is not really accurate & just putting in 90L at a time wont give you an accurate consumption. I have noted that my 90L light comes at different times/distances (I use a scanguage) but the end fill up is very close to the scanguage figures. Willy

At the risk of sounding anal...........

All the time my auto petrol averages 25 mpg which equates to 11.35L per 100KM

My low fuel warning light comes on at 903 miles or 1448KM

In terms of drag I have a snorkel, roof cross bars, driving lights, sovereign bar and MT's (40psi) fitted

Also my brake pads aren't even half worn yet and I've covered just over 70K KM's
