  • Manly, Brookvale, Dee why - looking for a reliable mechanic for 2008 Petrol prado

Can anyone recommend a local mechanic for major services? (80,000 kms)

My car spends a reasonable amount of time off road... touch wood, other than the odd loose bolt, haven't had any issues, but feel like I would like someone to cast an eye over things!

Also need a 2" lift kit installed and looking for recommendations for someone to do it locally.

and... If you have any "don't go there" recommendations, please post those through as well (or send via PM).

    Thanks you in advance.

Can highly recommend Anthony from On the Ball Automotive, reliable, honest, straight talking mechanic located round the back of the Mall.

There was a couple locally I would stay well away from down our way..... One, I think may have closed earlier this year..... his staff were the biggest bunch of ratbags I have ever met.

Personally if I was looking at major work, and a Service combined, I would probably make the hike up to Manell Motors at Thornleigh....

Personally, Just for services, I have had no problems from Buckles..... but the Mona Vale outlet (Not Brookvale), they have looked after our 120 for the past 160,000klms

Thanks Signature035. I originally bought my Prado from Mosman Toyota and had a couple of ugly episodes with them after signing up to the 5 year service guarantee deal...that they didn't honour... long story, Toyota Australia admitted the dealership was in the wrong but didn't want to get involved... in the past now, but need a break from Toyota dealerships for a while. :-)

Have you got a lift kit on yours?

Theres not much we don't have on ours after 7 years of touring.

We have a Lovell / Bilstein combo around 50mm lift. It was set up at the time by Darren of Autocraft VIC, and installed over the Southside.

Sounds like you have been happy with them - I saw the same combo for $1275 + install. Any thoughts?

I go to Chatswood Toyota at Artarmon as Buckle's haven't been the same since they got taken over (haven't tried Mona Vale though). I just drop the Prado off early, get a loan car and pick it up early the next day!
                Cheers, Brad

That looks good, but hard to tell how similar. Darren was meant to be setting these up specially for Lcool members back then.

Yep, I have been, and still am very pleased with the combination. We don't do anything extreme, but plenty of National Parks and beaches, lots of towing (We have airbags as well)
