We have a 2003 GXL V6. We did 19000km up through NT and around the top of WA with quite a bit of dirt (GRR, Cape Leveque, Great central, Plenty-Donahue/Binns, Mt Isa to Borraloola, East and West Macs) We had a canoe and kayak on the roof, and an 1100kg trailer and 2 adults and 2 kids.

    14l/100km
I did a trip up to the Whitsunday's for a ten day sea kayak trip with two sea kayaks on the roof. I had never done a highway trip without a trailer before. Was very pleased.

    • Right on what I averaged in a 14000 km similar trip last year [ but 22+ into strong headwinds!]

        • I am getting 27L per 100km on LPG towing a 2500kg boat with a roof tent on top. Fairly heavily loaded, up and down hills etc.

          • Hi guys, just reading through all these posts, do the vehicles fitted with LPG systems seem to be having more fuel efficiency problems than vehicles without? Has anyone noticed a marked difference in fuel economy/fuel costs since installing an LPG system?

            Cheers,

            • We just completed our big lap with a 2003 V6 GXL, towing a 2500kg semi-offroad van. Our average consumption for 28,600km was 20L/100km.
