Mate at Toyota just got one in needing a rebuild ( runs full time LPG) done 380,000 most on gas which ruins them quicker..
            They are practically bullet proof.

I bought a 2005 VX a few months ago. When I was looking around I found a nicely kitted out 2005 GXL with about 450,000 kms. The dealer was asking $13k for it. It had been very well maintained with a very full log book. After the log book ran out, all receipts were meticulously filed with added notes. I came very close to buying it and the dealer was keen to sell. It wasn't the mileage on the engine that worried me, but the mileage and wear and tear on the rest of the vehicle.

Over the last 3 months I have disposed of two work Hilux's with the same 1GRFE one had 713,656km and the last 617,233km both using no oil between services and not even a rocker cover removed, have another couple close to 600,000k so I had no problem purchasing an 08 Prado with 230,000k not even run in yet

Just be careful and get it checked out first,i recently purchased a 2004 gxl with 217,000 klms on it sounded great and was a very neat car but 600klms later the oil light came on and a rattle started. The car had a regular service history but the oil was pure gunk with metal bits in it from what ever had let go.Dont know what causes the oil to get to this point but have heard of others having similar issues ,maybe injector related like the diesels? It took me 3months of hassling the dealer before the motor was rebuilt and luckily the engine builder did a good job.I love these motors but I got unlucky and have learnt, put a torch down the oil filler and have a good look .Some people just don't look after their engines or get taken for a ride by dishonest mechanics
